Trick to improve performance when mining JSECoin in your browser

 

Yesterday I tried out JSECoin after reading this article written by @cryptogbox and exploring @jsecoin blog.

This project allows you to mine their cryptocurrency (Javascript Embedded Coin) simply running the mining task on their website.

You also have a handy slider that allows you to tune how much CPU to assign to the task.

The registration process takes 5 minutes.

You simply have to sign up with your email, confirm your email address, navigate to the Mining tab and press Start Mining. That's it!!

The impact on your CPU, unlike other projects, is very balanced! My browsing experience is not affected at all even leaving the setting at the highest. If you have many other programs running and leave set the slider to 2 or 3 you will just forget that it's running. That's also the reason why they have been whitelisted by the major Antivirus Companies (eg. Karspersky).

Remember not to minimize the window though or it will stop running (check the chart). Just resize it to make it small and leave it open behind all the other windows.

According to my calculations, leaving the website running in background while I use my laptop during the day, I make about 5$ a month (~800 JSECoin). But that's just considering the current price at 0.006 USD!

In my opinion things that will make the price increase in the future are:

A. It's a solid project
( B. It's the last week of the ICO stage )
C. They are making agreements to be listed on exchanges (eg. LATOKEN.com) - PS. they are now listed on 3 exchanges

And now without further ado let's get to THE TRICK MENTIONED IN THE TITLE.

It seems like their website uses too much logging and it's not really of any use to the end user. You can simply turn the logs off with the command below and this will save you 2-4 % of the CPU usage.

Here it is:

console = { log:()=>{}, info:()=>{}, warn:()=>{}, error:()=>{} }

{ To execute this command you just have to open the Browser Console (usually pressing F12), paste the command and press enter }

You can see the result in their chart right away. This was mine right after executing the command:

UPDATE: the logging issue now seems solved but leaving the dev tools open positively affects the mining outcome (check the chart).
