Aperitif from Transylvania - My entry for the photo contest (foodphotography) organized by @ juliank.
This is my photo, which will take part in the photo contest organized by @ juliank. The theme of the competition today is food photography.
In the photo below you can see a Romanian aperitif in the area of Transylvania. Characteristic of this area are "palinca" and "slana". Palinca is a specific drink in the area of Transylvania. The drink is plum distilled and has an alcolic strength of about 55 degrees. After serving a small cup of "palinca" you can serve "slana". Slana is prepared by natural smoking and comes from the pig.
In fact, "slana" is the fat of the pig under the skin. The pig is naturally fed, and is raised in the Romanian peasant yard. Perhaps many readers outside Romania what I have described here may seem strange, but it is a very tasty aperitif. Slana is served with red or white onion.
Of course, besides the two products specific to the area of Transylvania, you can consume the cheese. The cheese can be eaten with tomatoes or red peppers. In the picture, the slana is in front of the knife, and in the back you can see the wooden bottle with "palinca". If you eat this aperitif once, you will definitely fall in love with it.
If you ever visit Romania, you are looking to consume palinca with slana and onion. Of course, you are asking for a traditional product from the Romanian peasant's court in the Transylvanian area.
