📷 Family Dinner In The Countryside
Yesterday Sunday family gathering was a bigger one. Some family members that otherwise live abroad (Australia and New Zeland) arrived in Zagreb (Croatia) - their old hometown and my husband and I organized this family gathering with the rest of us (domestic ones), still living here.
This time we decided to take them out of the city, to the countryside for a meal from good old homemade cuisine.
Although the weather forecast from two weeks ago when we arranged everything and booked the tables in the eco-village about 35 kilometers out of town, tricked us a bit, we still had a wonderful time there, especially when it comes to the dinner itself.
We began our lunch with hot beef soup.
For the main course, there were several types of in the bread-crumbs frying stakes stuffed with different ingredients (like cheese, ham, mushrooms, etc.) or its combinations. As a side dish, we took homegrown baked potatoes and salads (green salad, tomatoes, and grated fresh cabbage).
Besides that, there were also different kinds of grilled meat and sausages with unavoidable čevapčići (chevapchichi - a local dish prepared with meant meat mixture and some spices, formed as thicker rounded small sticks and grilled).
When the food plates arrived on the table the little ones (as you may see at the right top corner of below photo) couldn't wait for their parents who were occupied talking with other family members to fill their plates, but instantly grabbed the desired piece of meat by thrusting in their forks.
Unfortunately, I can't show you the dessert as it vanished almost before than it even arrived at the table, and I didn't have a chance for a single photo to take. But anyway, to complete our yesterday's menu, for dessert, we had pancakes filled with ice cream and flambéed blackberries which were sweet and delicious.

Not many things can compare with full table of delicious food, which you can eat with your family or friends.

Even tho this is the ''normal'' food here, I was telling the other day to few guys how Croatia cuisine is awesome...
I'm getting sick a bit and that soup would be perfect right now.. :)
If I may (for feeling sick a bit), I would rather recommend a chicken soup instead of this one (beef soup) as it's much more revitalizing or as my Granny would say "Chicken soup will lift up even the dead ones!" 😉😊

Ufff i really missed the dessert. ..having a family get togeher is best thing to have...foods looks good but cant say much as.i am vegeterian ..so only thing left to cherish was dessert..which i am missing....😉

Hmmm pretty bad...i love sweets..you here is restaurant that offer buffet meals..at a fixed cost..means you can eat as much as you want..and you not gonna belive i alwsys cherish their desert..so variety and tasty...can you belive they serve me chiilies pudding...and i had it 8 times..apart from other dessert

I am sure you had a wonderful time with your guest. The grilled meat looks yummy.
At our place it is a similar situation with the kids, as soon as the food is served in a blink it would disappear, specially if it is the grilled chicken and meat...hahaha
Yeah, the kids are really funny with their spontaneous reactions. 😀
And yes, we had a very nice time gathering with our family members that live abroad. As it's not that often that we have the opportunity to be all together like this we cherish those moments even more.
