Cooking Delicious Croissants With Berries Easy And Fast

in #food7 years ago (edited)

Baked Treats: They’re comforting, homely and (according to most people) delicious. The smell of freshly baked bread, cookies or cakes can take people back to their childhoods, to picnics in the park, to Sunday morning brunches. Also, according to a French study, the smell of these goodies can make us kinder to strangers. Researchers found that pleasant smells can trigger positive moods that lead to a greater degree of altruism. You could even leave a plate of whatever you have baked out for prospective buyers/tenants to try. | Selling a House by Smell – Selling Hints & Tips

In the article above they say that you are more likely to sell your real estate property and get more money when it smells fresh bakery. Myself I’ve sold three apartments before I ever heard of that idea above. While I don’t have reasons to complain about any of the real estate deals I had in the past, I can imagine how much I could boost my profits… But never mind, this is just another easy, fast and delicious recipe of croissants. Outstanding aroma and great taste guaranteed even if you are unable to cook anything.

Definitely you can make puff pastry for the croissants yourself at home (though it requires some skills), but then how it can be called an easy recipe? It’s much fun to make puff pastry, but it’s also a pretty much time consuming process. So, what I’m proposing you here is to buy frozen puff pastry from a trusted store nearby.

What you need

  • store-bought puff pastry;
  • 1 chicken egg;
  • 1 tablespoon water;
  • berries (unfrozen or fresh)*

*you can replace berries with whatever you wish: chocolate chunks or chips, jam, ham, sausages, cheese or whatever fits your diet :D

Directions

Preheat your oven to 175C or 350F. Take out and unfold puff pastry on some non-stick surface (put some flour on it) or just leave the film. Prick the pastry lightly with a fork all over. Cut the pastry into rectangles and cut each rectangle into triangles (see the pictures below). Add some berries (chocolate chunks or chips, jam, ham, sausages, cheese or whatever tasty add-ons you might have) with sugar and roll each triangle from a wider side. Tuck each tip under a rolled croissant and place them on a tray covered with baking paper (don’t be misguided by foil depicted here and use it as a last resort in the absence of baking paper).
Crack an egg and mix water with white or with the whole egg in a small bowl. Grease each croissant with the egg mix a little using a pastry brush and put the tray with the croissants into the preheated oven. Cook your croissants in the oven for 20-30 minutes until golden brown.

Serve with milk, tea, coffee or your favorite drink.

just so you know i am crazy about croissants. my usual breakfast. quick tip: do not absolutely put powdered sugar over them, when you try to re-heat them, it becomes sticky sweety thing and the croissant is not anymore so tasty.

I just love when beautiful girls are telling me about breakfast :D
And no, I'm not powdering them with sugar, but with some cinnamon. Absolutely love that smell!
Thanks for the tip and your comment!

And I just love these with some condensed milk and coffee :D
