A Venture Into Veganism ... Our First Week Without Meat

in #food6 years ago

My wife and I have always had a fairly healthy diet, consuming both plant and animal products. However due to health issues we are open and have tried different eating habits. For now, we have decided due to evidence based findings to give a vegan diet a try.

Veganism sounds like the way to go. Here are some claimed reasons for it

Zero animal fats. Animal fats have been linked to a range of illnesses and conditions, including diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, hypertension, heart disease, and various cancers. Lower cancer risk. Bone health. Heart health.

We first started the process of Veganism with reducing the amount of animal products in our diet. As we have never really been a fan of dairy products that was easy. We swapped the milk we have in coffees with coconut milk. We loved it.
Here is our latest shop. We have some almond milk, coconut oil, nuts and veggies. Normally we would go for coconut milk just because we prefer it.

Then the next step was to not have any meat for the week. We have had our first week of no meat intake.

We have had no problem with this.. Energy levels have not changed and we haven't had any other issues of significance. So far, we have been enjoying the change. In time I'm sure we will be able to give you an update on our dietary experiment.

One thing we are doing different to Veganism is eating our free range eggs from the three hens we own.

We look forward to discovering whether there ends up being noticeable improvements in our quality of life. Thanks for reading!

The healthy should be what we adopt but we always turn to the bad and what ultimately kills us, according to why the bad food is more tasty but what I've seen and read the vegan food can be equally rich but healthy.

You should place recipes and photos of what you eat and encourage many to start eating healthy. ;)

It looks very healthy the food they bought, I personally could not be vegan but I do not support the overexploitation of animals in the industries. An animal must be raised on a farm with great care and love

I really want to give it a go as well. Not sure how long i would last 😆

it seems we should consume fruits only.
and milk in your shop :)
thanks for the information.

Veganism is good. I wish I had sustained mine. The process is quite difficult but once you get comfortable, youre good to go. On a second note, when you intend to kill those hens kindly send them over.

Thanks, we haven't found it hard, so quite happy doing it. We don't intend to kill the chickens, they are our pets🐓, we enjoy being with them.

I Just want to support you. it's realy great that you change tour eating habites.

Very good health food yummy 😋

Hey @nolnocluap, thank you for sharing your journey. What would interest me ist how the average cost of your food is changing/ going to change when changing your diet so drastically.

The change from eating meat every day to never eat meat should be very slowly and careful. Not everyone could stop eating meat like tomorrow.
If you are a heavy meat-eater and you want to make the switch to a vegetarian or a vegan eater, you should do it slowly.

Like just eat the whole week meat like you are used to but choose 2 or 3 days eating chicken, turkey or fish. Then switch to 4 to 5 days a week till you eat only those light digestive meats.

After that I should switch to not eating meat during 1 day a week and increase the days every week .

I believe your body needs that slowly change to adapt this different
lifestyle.

Thanks for sharing your eating habit and good luck with eating healthy. I am looking forward to more articles !

Yes I agree, as we aren't huge meat eaters the change hasn't been hard. At the moment we have one meal a week that's still got some meat in it. Also we haven't had dairy in our life for years so we didn't need to do anything there😊

We eat mostly vegan with the exception of eggs, cheese and occasional fish. We have been eating this way since December and feel healthier. We have lost a significant amount of weight and have reduced the need for medications. So all in all, I'd say it is the way to go.

That's great, thanks for sharing. The research I did talk slot about people feeling healthier and coming off medication and feeling better for it. So it's good to hear you've experienced that. Thank you 😀

You are welcome. I hope that you will see positive changes too.
