PROOF OF STEEMIT PHOTOS ! IF I CAN DO IT, SO CAN YOU! So this is how I spent my day off this Sunday! Making homemade salsa!MY SONS LOVE THIS STUFF! This salsa was made with the tomatoes , garlic, hot peppers , and red onions all grown in my boyfriends and my garden out in Beaverdell! So it truly was home made from the garden to the dinner table! And let me tell you its smokin hot! There isnt really a recipe per say ! Just chop all your favorite vegetables put it in a big pot to cook awile , then jar it up in sterilized jars from your dishwasher!
I then put it in a boiling water bath for 20 to 30 min. And done ! Yippee! Heres a basic list of the stuff i put in my salsa which i make every fall in October! ๐ŸŒถ๐Ÿ…๐ŸŒถ๐Ÿ…๐ŸŒถ๐Ÿ…๐ŸŒถ


20 to 30 Tomatoes ( put 1 min in boiling water to remove skins easily ) chop /dice up!
7 jalapeรฑos ( diced up small do not remove seeds unless you want a mild salsa!
3 large red onions ( diced)
1 head of garlic ( 7 cloves minced)
2 celery sticks ( diced or sliced thinly)
1/2 bunch of celantro ( found in produce section ) chopped up like you would parsley!
1 juice of lemon
1 can tomato paste
1 can enchilada sauce๐ŸŒถ๐Ÿ…๐ŸŒถ

(#1) 2 tbsp salt , shake in some chilli pepper flakes , or your favorite spices, just add whatever you like and just keep taste testing as it cooks down a bit , and once it starts thickening your peppers and onions should be cooked , just turn it down to low or remove it from the stove if your ready to start filling your hot jars from the dishwasher!
(#2) when filling jars leave a 1/4 inch head space , be sure to wipe the rims of the jars before putting lids on , put on screw caps dont over tighten .๐ŸŒถ๐Ÿ…๐ŸŒถ

(#3) Put in boiling water bath 20 to 30 min, remove , slightly tighten screw bands on as they will loosen in water bath, and that it ! Let cool, you will them start snapping and thats a great sign they properly sealed ! Once canned they will last for years in a cool dark cupboard! ๐ŸŒถ๐Ÿ…๐ŸŒถ

I really hope you guys will try to can your own homemade salsa! Its really quite easy, just alot of chopping ! But the end product is so delicious my jars disappear as soon as i open them! I usually need to hide one so I have it for Christmas entertaining! I love the fact that i know its organic, home grown, homemade, no crap in it like that store bought stuff thats loaded with salt! ๐ŸŒถ๐Ÿ…๐ŸŒถ

Just chop up and add whatever you like! Make it your own! Sometimes I add corn or beans to a few jars as well so I have a mixture of different salsas! I love putting salsa in omelets, on scrambled eggs, its a great dip for ripple chips, and i love it on tacos too!

Great post. My wife has been experimenting with "fermenting" salsas lately. Fermenting makes for an interesting flavor profile. You should try that, and either can it...or just eat it up! I can't believe how easy this looks to make. I don't think I'll buy store bought salsa again.

Its even easier if you do like me and chop and mince all your stuff into a pot the night before, then the next day all you have to do is the tomatoes to remove the skins, cook it, jar it! I hope you try it ! You will see it tastes so much better and fresher then store bought! You will never go back! Lol! โ™จ๐Ÿ˜‰โ™จ

I've always been too afraid to can anything - you know - afraid I won't get a good seal and then poison everybody! LOL But when I get my garden back up to par, I'm hoping to make my own sauce, salsa and fruit preserves.

Actually im the MOM! LOL! its my recipe , and i make it for my sons every year! I will edit that, i see what you mean thanks! And Thanks for the great comments , as long as you wipe the rim off your hot jars and put hot lids onto clean glass you will get a proper seal! And of course dont over fill always a space on the top! Eigther way if you dont hear the top" pop" or your lid doesnt sink in, the salsa is still good! Just eat it up like you would your store bought stuff, and cellar away the ones that sealed good! Ive edited my post and added another photo with( Moms/ My )salsa added as it is totally my recipe, i am MOM ! who makes this for my 2 sons now aged 26 and 29! And ive made it for them for years, sometimes they even help me make it! Its quite a fun family activity ! So get your family together and start canning, its much more healthy for you! โ™จ๐Ÿ‘โ™จ
