in #food6 years ago (edited)

Dear Steemit friends~ As time goes time, it's just another 9days until a brand new year.

It is traditionally a time for the family to gather around and reunion at the end of the year. By this, it is common that we make a special dessert which is called tangyuan (湯圓) or alternatively known as glutinous rice balls to symbolize reunion “团圆” because they are round in shape.

Looking delicious...👌👌😋

Thank you :D It's our tradition to have it on this particular day to represent reunion in our family.

I read it in this blog and it's great that you represent reunion in your family.

Have a good day!

That’s a good introductory to Winter Solstice delicacy. i normally make them in a few colours, each colour to represent one member of the family. 🙂

That's a great idea. I like to keep things simple so I just used 1 different colour to brings up the overall looking of the dessert :D

Me too. I am so lazy. So it’s either i make them in all colours or i skip that year. Think next time i’ll just buy ready made 😬

in China, we eat dumplings for Winter Solistics

That is very interesting! In countries like in Singapore, Malaysia and Taiwan. We used to make this glutinous rice balls for Winter Solstice Festival. It could be a sweet dessert or savory, depending on your favourite flavour.

yum yum!!!!!!!!!!!!!

miss eating 'tang yuan' :(
