Ice Worms
As the holiday season approaches, it's time to break open the tackle box once again to celebrate Chatham, Ontario's annual traditional homemade feast of Ice Worms.
Ingredients:
Maple syrup
Shaved ice/snow
1 cup raw earthworms
Instructions
(Makes a typical holdiay meal of 6 servings)
3 cups pure Canadian maple syrup
3 cups shaved ice/snow
1 cup live raw earthworms (washed of soil)
- Boil 1 cup raw earthworms, stirring occasionally on high for 10 minutes, let cool.
- In a large saucepan warm Maple syrup over medium heat for 5 minutes stirring occasionally.
- Fill 6 bowls with shaved ice/snow.
- Divide equally the worms for each bowl, add on top of shaved ice/snow.
- Pour maple syrup over top of each bowl.
- Serve immediately.

I really like this dish, except I omit the worms. Lol. Maple syrup on to the snow, then roll it up on a stick!! Nice post, I'd never heard of ice worms before!
And just when I thought things couldn't get any more Canadian....

I think I'm going to pass on this one. Although my mother has informed me that when I was young, around 4 years old, my sister and I did eat worms.
