The Birds are sharing the Holiday Love! It’s Tradition!

As we pack and prepare to spend the holidays with the family I think about past Holidays and the traditions we keep. One tradition I will always continue is sharing cookies, candies and breads with friends and neighbors.

I still remember...

My mother would save 1 lb. coffee cans to use at Christmas time. She would make pumpkin bread, baking the loaves in the coffee cans. Then as a family we would deliver these wonderful loaves of pumpkin bread to many neighbors and friends. I still have her pumpkin bread recipe…but I don’t use the coffee cans!

The Elf on the Shelf...

A new tradition we begin to see during the holiday seasons. His smiling face pops up in unexpected places! He decided to stop by to help showcase our last candy!

Pumpkin Pie Fudge?

Pumpkin! We eat pumpkin pie during the holiday! It’s great with fluffy whipped toppings, but how about Pumpkin Pie fudge!

Pumpkin Pie Fudge-ilicious Ingredients
  • Pumpkin Pulp (6 tbsp.)
  • Coconut Butter (1/2 cup)
  • Organic Maple Syrup (4 tbsp.)
  • Almond Butter (3 tbsp.)
  • Pumpkin Pie Spice (2 tsp)
  • Sea Salt (dash)

Truly a quick treat!

  • Heat all ingredients in a medium saucepan. I whisked everything while it melted, about 5 minutes. Pour the ingredients into a parchment lined baking dish. I wanted to have a few decorative fudge pieces for my gift plates. Silicone candy molds are a fun touch! Freeze the fudge for about 1 hour, and then you’re ready to go!

Our Elf is ready to share! Here we go!

Recognize the candies? Truffles and Fudge for the neighborhood holiday party.

Cranberry Walnut bread and chocolates for the neighbors!

We may not have snow but we still have the holiday spirit! Tornado warnings kept us at bay for a while, but we were finally able to get out to deliver the treats!

I have to be honest with you right now. I have a LONG TERM argument with Pumpkin Spice. It became full blown when I owned the coffee shop and customers asked about it at Thanksgiving time. In a me being me moment I suggested that they had me confused with Starbucks and there would be no pumpkin spice in my shop.

Fast forward 15 years and there is a Starbucks on every corner. And I would so eat that fudge it would frighten you. Not that I have any pumpkin spice in my house or liable to have any, but I'd be on that like a duck on a June bug.

What a marvelous Christmas traditions list. Bless you and yours for it.

lol, you have to love Pumpkin Spice....I bet the customers drove you crazy after Starbucks started offering their crazy coffees! Thank you @bigtom13, it was tasty! Perhaps someday you'll go out on a limb and try it! Merry Christmas to you, your comments are so kind !

I made a crustless pumpkin pie day before yesterday. Neither @catweasel nor I are big on pie crust w/ pumpkin pie ... but I have been craving the filling lately. I made my own pumpkin pie spice mix. Stronger than the "standard" recipe. That thing disappeared in under 24 hours. The only reason it lasted long enough to get put in the fridge was because we swore ahead of time to show some restraint. However, ---> as soon as we can get to the store for more eggs and another can of evaporated milk, I'm making another. One just didn't cut it. Not nearly.

Awe just love this post, gorgeous gifts for your lucky neighbours! You really make magic in that kitchen of yours, only @birdsinparadise would invent something called Pumpkin Fudge, looks so good!

Thank you @lizelle, with all of your gifts! You are amazing my friend. And the fudge was indeed good! The pumpkin taste was subtle...and nice! Always appreciate hearing from you, you're so kind!

I am cobbling together an actual pumpkin fudge recipe to try. Nothing to do with maple syrup or almond butter, because the basic idea sounds awesome. (And I want all the fat and calories I can stuff in my face.)

I have been craving pumpkin lately like there's something the matter with me. One thing I can definitely promise is it will not be subtle. That may be a word -- but, for sure, it's not me.

Okay, perhaps I should send you my fudge recipe I have used for many years! (I had to come up with a different method as my brother who looooooves and expects fudge for Christmas is a diabetic. But, my original recipe I made every year! Full of lots of sugar and lots of fat!! lol I haven't tried adding pumpkin but I bet it would be awesome. The pp spice (spice is a good word for spicy!!) is so nice, you will love it. Let me know how your recipe turns out!! So glad to see you @thesteemengine!! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

I would wear it with pride!! (For the rest of my life.)

Congratulations! This post has been chosen as one of the daily Whistle Stops for The STEEM Engine!

OH MY GAWDDD! You are a genius woman. Just when I thought you couldn’t possibly make something better than your last post you come out with pumpkin fudge. I’m so in love with you @birdsinparadise. Pumpkin anything is such a favorite of mine and you combining fudge and pumpkin is pure genius. Your neighbors must be very happy campers to be your friend around Christmas time 😉. You can ship our plates to the new address in Costa Rica 🤷🏼‍♀️ Haha

you are too much, you always make me laugh! Just send me your address....I'll start shipping immediately! Thanks so much my friend! I pray you guys have a happy and peaceful Christmas :)

We pray you and Mr. Bird (and the rest of the bird clan) do as well. God Bless @birdsinparadise.

How funny - I somehow read this as you were making cookies for the birds in your garden and I thought HOW SWEET - elf-on-the-shelf hits the bird feeder too! hahaha.... Your treats look amazing and I think your circle of family and friends is super blessed. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all the Birds. Feathered as well..... :) LOL....

Thank you, it was so simple and quick! I think you'll like it! So glad you stopped by!

Love, love, love!! I just posted what I share with co-workers, but sharing with neighbors is so much fun, as well! It truly is a wonderful tradition. Nothing beats homemade treats made with love. And that fudge looks fantastic!! Adding that to my list...

I'll have to get to your post, I've been away all day traveling...it was fun, they were surprised when I showed up, totally unexpected! Love it! Nothing like homemade, you are so right! Plus we can make more...to share of course! :) Thank you Katie!

What a cool tradition your mum had and that Elf never seen one like that but I love it so cute

It was always special, I can picture it now....the elf was silly I know, but hey it was fun :) Thanks @tatoodjay!
