I Bet You Never Tried This Before - Cabbage Pistachio Bread Rolls - Tasty Lunch Ideas

Experimenting in cooking offers a chance to be creative and you get to try new recipes and tastes on a daily basis. Cooking can be fun if you like it. But for the people that don´t like cooking, I guess it is not fun :). But the fact is that if a person wants to eat healthy he simply has to take time to prepare a meal at home. my advice to you steemian friends is - simply cook.

Ingredients:

Dough:
1 ½ cup all-purpose wheat flour
1/2 cup lukewarm water
2 tsp vegetable oil for kneeding
2 tsp for rolling out dough
2 tsp for greasing the dough after it is flattened

If you want to save yourself some time you can buy puff pastry, to not bother with making the dough.

Filling:
4 cups sliced green cabbage
1 medium onion
½ cup pistachios
1/2 cup water

Brushing:
2 tbsp vegetable oil

Yield: two 30 cm rolls

Preparation:

Preheat the oven to 200°C and crush the pistachios.

Prepare the dough by placing prescribed ingredients in the bowl. Knead for 10 – 15 minutes, the dough should not stick to the hands. Cover the bowl with a kitchen cloth and let it rest for 20 minutes.

Slice onions and cabbage into thin slices.

Heat vegetable oil in the pan, place in sliced onions and sauté for 5 - 8 minutes until yellow, stirring occasionally. Add sliced cabbage, ½ cup lukewarm water and simmer for 15 minutes stirring occasionally.

Use hands or rolling pin to flatten the dough into very thin 40x60 cm square. Cut this square into 2 equal 40x30 cm squares. Add a few drops of oil and spread it across the dough. Place cooked cabbage and onions on the dough leaving 3 cm on 3 sides without this mixture . Spread crushed pistachios over the cabbage. Start rolling the dough on the side that has cabbage and onions spread to the edge. When the rolls are rolled, brush them with oil. Place the rolls on the baking tin and in the oven. Bake for 30 minutes until rolls are light yellow. Brush the rolls 3 times during baking.

Preparation time: 25 minutes
Cooking: 50 minutes
