Inception (film): another Christopher Nolan gem

in #films6 years ago

I am normally very critical of Leo as I don't think he is as great an actor as many people seem to believe. I think this stems a lot from his earlier work and in particular "the Beach." Anyway, Inception is an absolutely brilliant film and once again, I had no idea it existed because of where I have chosen to live in the world.

Based on the box-office figures of nearly $1 billion, i would imagine that most of the world is already familiar with this epic film and have likely seen it at least once. If you have somehow managed to not see this movie you need to find a way to make that happen right away.

Dom Cobb (DiCaprio) and Arthur, who I don't believe was given a surname in the movie (played by Joe Gordon-Levitt) perform corporate espionage and theft by entering the subconscious of their unknowing victims via induced and shared dreams. They then get to work on extracting information from their victims while they are sleeping in close proximity in real life. Since everyone in the dream must be sleeping in order for this to work, the movements their bodies go through in real life affects what is happening in the dream - which is extremely cool

This can include rooms moving and flipping, and also water flooding whatever scene they happen to be in at the time. How they were able to pull off a lot of these scenes is truly a testament to the directing capabilities of Nolan. While obviously a tremendous amount of CGI was used in this film, Nolan stayed committed to the idea that he needs to utilize as little CGI as possible. The snow palace at the end was actually an extremely realistic miniature because, well, they needed to blow it up.

"It's always very important to me to do as much as possible in-camera

Therefore a lot of rotatable sets were build and when you see the actors flying from one side of the room to the other, they actually were doing this on set. It's pretty wild to see.

As critical as i tend to be of DiCaprio, he was absolutely the correct choice to star in this film. Actually, every casting choice was spot on.

I extend this opinion even to Ellen Page, who i thought was a strange choice for this type of film considering that she was most widely remembered for her performance in Juno, which was largely a comedy film.

Overall, this is one of my personal favorite films of all time. Likely in my top 10 (which is a list i haven't actually compiled.) It would seem as though the world agrees with my opine for the most part though. As this film received nearly unanimous praise and is listed as one of the best movies of all time on IMDB.

9.5 / 10

Oh this movie is quite worth the hype Like Dudeeee this movie is crazy fun and entertaining! Without a doubt, Inception" works for the viewer, in a way, like the world itself worked for Leonard, the hero of "Memento." this Science fiction film is done smoothly from great casting to cinematography. i would always remember the main protagonist Dom Cobb is a skilled thief, the absolute best in the dangerous art of extraction, stealing valuable secrets from deep within the subconscious during the dream state, when the mind is at its most vulnerable. Nolan gives you bits and pieces of information, and as the movie plays out the viewer begins to put the pieces together and the picture gradually becomes clearer.

in my humble opinion, the movie is wholly original, cut from new cloth, and yet structured with action movie basics so it feels like it makes more sense which is deeply felt for audience like me either teens, kids or adults.

Overall, in terms of sheer originality, ambition and achievement i would rate this movie high as well 8.5/10

In the past, I attempted to watch this film twice. Both times I fell asleep (Yes, I fell asleep during Inception!). I recently watched it in it's entirety, and absolutely loved it. It was not as confusing as I originally thought it to be, and I almost felt like taking notes to track where the story, along with writing my own predictions for a conclusion. I thoroughly enjoyed the ending, which made the hairs on my neck stand up. The only reason it is missing half a star is because I did not like DiCaprio in the lead role. I thought Tom Hardy would have been a great lead. That is the only issue I have from my now second-favorite Christopher Nolan film.
Christopher Nolan's Inception is a smart tautly made film which can be equally confusing if not paid attention. It engages the intellect- something which is expected of a Nolan film and features some amazing set pieces and great performances from the likes of Leonardo Di Caprio, Joseph Gordon Levitt and Ellen Page. Running at close to 150 minutes Inception may be a tad bit too long to be considered an action adventure or thriller but for those who want something more cerebral from their tentpole movies- Inception is an answer.

are you sure you fell asleep? :P Maybe you never saw the whole movie but it was just a dream inside a dream!

Yes, I did not see the whole movie. Half looked better. The rest of the half did not look good

I have placed this tied for number 1 with Interstellar and Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls for my favourite of all time.

The idea brought out in the movie mixed in with a variety of other things like music, story, and the acting I thought was good too. Nolan did a great job and this was one I got to see in the movie theater.

I remember the first time I saw it at the cinema, I was so amazed, few movies have left me spechless, I think it's going to be very hard for Nolan to make another film like this, even though "The Dark Knight" and "Interstellar" are also masterpieces in my book, "Inception" was one of a kind movie, complicated yet accesible, deep but at the same time so basic with its themes of love, the special effects, Hans Zimmer iconic theme, so much greatness it's hard to top. The good thing about Nolan is that he always looks for ways to excel himself, so I'm always anxious when a new movie by him is released.

To the film Christopher Nolan, as well as to any quality puzzle, there are many approaches. You can, for example, perceive "Inception" as an action-thriller with cute special effects. We can consider Christopher Nolan as a family drama. You can finally work out a purely scientific, mathematical approach, look for shortcomings and blunders of authors. Here it must be said that the design invented by Christopher Nolan is almost flawless. It's not even that he figured it out (although in this too - after all, over the script he worked almost a decade). And the fact that Christopher Nolan does not explain which of the many layers of the film is a reality. So it's just senseless to find fault - the author will wink and say that dreams do not have flawless logic.
In any case, on "Inception", as well as on the cube Rubik, it is quite possible to get hooked. Unfortunately, such fascinating puzzles do not appear as often as we would like, but then they take months to build, if not years.

By reading your review about the film, it looks like an amazing technology is used while shooting of the movie. The scenes of flying actors from one side to other are terrible and wonderfully done.

you mean you haven't seen it yet? get it right away dude. You wont regret it

I will watch it in the evening. Thanks for suggesting.
Just upvoted your post

This film takes a lot of composure to understand the deepest meaning.behind the what the camera shows ther is a meaning behind meaning.if you really watched it you would understand what i mean...
