NEON / A Fifty Word Short Story
This is my entry for @jayna's 50 word writing competition (usually run by @miniature-tiger). The prompt this week is spring.
NEON
An alien colony of spring shaped organisms fluoresce in the depths. They multiply and begin to grow stronger and larger. A satellite captures their glow, but no one can explain what it is. In time they will crawl on the land, move to consume all the light in our cities.

I debated the difference between using light or lights in the last line. I chose light because as you suggest, it’s a symbol for life.

Really nice! I love that you did both the story and the artwork! I love "They fluoresce in the depths." It sounds so pretty. Until it takes over all the light in the land!

Leaves a lot to the imagination. One is the simple move from our electricity powered earth back to the time before we had electricity. Another followin to this story, these spring shaped organisms consuming also the light coming from fire which actually leeds to a intergalactic story, since the Sun and all the stars need to be taken out of our universe; I picture quite a funny story already.
Thanks, I wanted to leave the idea of consuming light wide open for different interpretations. I like the way you see it.
