Tale of War - Ending (Original Fiction)

in #fiction8 years ago (edited)

This story is fiction, but the story is based on historical sources. As we know, the Aceh War with the Dutch occurred in 1873.

Read the previous story in Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3

On April 16, 1876, Dutch soldiers returned to barracks Olee Kareng. Suddenly, Aceh's fighters attacked the Dutch soldiers. There are about 20 fighters armed with dagger, saber, and spear. They attacked the Dutch soldiers blindly.

Whether coincidence that encounter occurred or the fighters have planned assault, Karim seen among them. Nobody knew why Karim so crazy attacking the enemy. Could last night he had a dream? But obviously, Karim looked dashing with his dagger.

Some Dutch soldiers fall victim. A sergeant named Roels looked helpless. Hasan brandished saber want to slashed neck Roels. But cleared by Kraakel. Roels saved from death. But unfortunately for Hasan, he felt down due to bullet through his head.

Karim saw the death of Hasan, then Karim getting crazy. Ignoring her fear during this time, he held dagger into the air and shouted of takbeer. Karim stab Kraakel. But Kraakel not remain silent. Kraakel was trained soldier. With the remnants of her strength, he kicked Karim who did not seem capable in combat. Do Kraakel die? Karim hope so, because Kraakel seemed to hold his stomach and tried to postpone death.

Karim felt dizzy. He was vomiting. At that moment, Roels loaded his rifle with bullets while saying something and aiming toward Karim. Distance both to within 300 meters. Karim looked at Roels helplessly. He was ready waiting for Ainal Mardhiah. His eyes were screwed in such a way. His mouth was a smile. And bang!

At the time put an end to this story, imagined in my mind the face of Abdul Karim, my grandfather always repeating the above story. I felt this story only want to show a whopping process, not a beautiful process about meet with the Lord. I also felt that Karim, uncle Abdul Karim, perhaps the same person. Only Abdul Karim embarrassed to say that he was Karim. He really canny mix up between fiction and fact.

I, Abdul Karib, successor Abdul Kasim, roving charlatan in the market Peunayong will not forget the stories of heritage. When I sold drugs to customers, I'll never get bored to tell Tale of War.

Before I ended this story, I tried to find the relationship between Karim and Do Karim, one of the street poet when the Aceh War. A convergence of these relationships is always clogged because I was not able to find reliable sources. But I'm sure, Karim and Do Karim, or Abdul Karim is the same person.
