With a wistful smile, Patryg shared the story with his son, watching his face as he listened. After he had finished the story, there came the sounds of footsteps approaching the sanctuary, and a member of the Shroud Knights walked through the door and looked around for a moment, searching for Patryg. When he arched a brow, Patryg nodded, and the scholar walked over.

“My Lord. The four orders are gathered for the conclave. There are only four missing, as they are out on missions.”

After thanking the woman, Patryg sighed softly. “Now, I have to go out there and explain to eight hundred ninety-six people why we have to leave our home.” He looked at his son and managed a tired smile when Jaymes offered him a knowing look.

Within minutes, Patryg was standing in front of the Conclave, giving his report on how the visit to Kalyb's castle had gone. He went on to explain how they had been treated, how Kalyb had acted, and the threats he had made. It was with a heavy heart that he told them why the new king didn't like them.
Then he went on to tell about the threat to innocent people, and about their option, the only one that was feasible. When he was finished, he took a step back and waited while the people considered his words.

At first, there were angry mutterings when he told them that the best option was to leave the Keep, but the muttering gave way to silence as more thought was given. When one of the Crown Knights asked where they would be going, Patryg was silent for a moment, then told them about the Kingdom of Pheron and about his old friend, Defron. That led to the inevitable question about the makeup of Pheron, the people, the customs, deities, and so on, which one of the Shroud Knights answered.

It's almost if they knew where we go, even if I didn't know myself, Patryg thought to himself. But, knowing Eva, Larena, and the rest of the Shroud's, I wouldn't put it past them to have information on every kingdom on Terrana, just because they can.

There was another bout of silence as the Conclave digested this new information. After giving them the customary time to make a decision, the Sergeant-at-arms called for a quorum. The question posed was Do we go to Pheron, as suggested by Sir Patryg? Or do we go elsewhere, and if so, where?
The discussion was lively, as some of the Knights wanted to go to Pheron, some to other countries that held Chapter Houses, and even those that wanted to find a new place to live, where they could rebuild the Keep again. In the end, it was decided that a majority of the Knights would follow Patryg to Pheron, but only if this old friend of his, whom he had not seen in twenty years, would grant them land and ask nothing in return. In all told, over five hundred Knights and their families would travel with him, while the rest would head off to auxiliary chapter houses and await his word.
