#103: Erase The Video
“You reckon that news chopper got some good video of us?” Shelby was waving a tentacle at the hovering news aircraft.
“Oh yes.” Chad said. He was doing the same thing. “ I’d say they have.”
“No need to worry about that “ Akatsuki said to the two Mages. “I left some bugs in the whirly bird. The bugs messed up the recording equipment pretty bad. They might have a few seconds of video, if that much. They’ll be so upset when they find out what happened.”
“Aww..too bad” Shelby said “ That’s my girl...er...dragon.”
Shelby and Chad submerged and returned to the job at hand.. .with the tank cars.
The EMT’s were professional. Having a nervous breakdown because of the Kraken would have to wait. They had work to do. Triage was preformed immediately. The Drivers most likely to be saved through immediate medical attention were loaded onto the helicopter. The uninjured and Josh were left on the rescue hover-boat for Marc and Captain to take care of. The triage medic had taken one look at Josh and knew he would die soon. There was no help for it. Josh was left so that other’s could live. The four most seriously injured would fly back on the JayHawk.
Captain winked at Josh.
“Now’s your chance to make some bragging points.” he said so that only Josh could hear”These guys just KNOW you are dying before their eyes. Want to have some fun?”
“Sure…why not.” Josh said.
Marc turned to Josh and asked him with an evil grin. “Want to play cards on the trip back to pass the time? How bout poker? I have a deck. You all can play while I drive. Who all wants to play?”
“I’d love to.” Josh said.
The other drivers stared at Josh in horror. Two of them fainted. Two more leaned over the rail to puke. The others just stared in horror. Everyone was dumbstruck.
“Guess not.” Josh said. “This has been a strange day.”
“You have no idea” Marc replied.
Captain said “Oh I think he does, or he will. What say we race the chopper back to the hospital?”
Marc’s eyes opened wide, then his face broke into another of his patented evil grins. “Suuuuure. Why not. It’ll be fun.”
“Yup…it’s been a strange day.” Marc muttered. Then he informed his passengers “Ya’ll hold on back there, buckle up your seat belts or something. I got a hot date in town and I don’t want to be late.”
