#104: HoverBoat vs Chopper

The HoverBoat launched. It should have totally, completely and , absolutely impossible for it to even keep the helicopter in sight. Wrong. It was more than it seemed having been conjured from SSmoke by the ArchMage. The difficult he did right away. The impossible might take a little longer. The crew of the MedaVac and the News Chopper couldn't’ believe their eyes as they saw the hover boat overtook them, streak past, and vanish into the rivers fog in the distance.

The hoverboat was at the hospital, docked and unloaded, when the helicopter landed. Josh was already inside having a stake…. removed.

Yvette

Josh lay in his hospital bed staring into space. A TV was turned on but he was ignoring yet another replay of ‘Shark Week”. He was thinking about what he had just experienced. Was it, could it, be real? He had to admit. He was alive. That was a definite point in his favor.

Yvette said “That’s GREAT, I’m glad you are alive. Hi there, I’m Yvette. I'm your Daemon. Elvira and the gang told me to say‘Hi.’. . Am I being too possessive?”

Josh’s mouth fell open. A girl had just appeared before him out of nowhere. She was smiling radiantly and bouncing up and down on the balls of her feet. She was the girl of his dreams. Other than being slightly transparent she was perfect in every last detail. Nice...er...hair too.

“Oops..your heart rate has increased……” Yvette said casually “And the blood pressure too. Wonder why that is?”

She appeared to think about it for a little bit..then looked at josh. She raised an eyebrow.

“Oh. I don’t have any clothes on.. “ She grinned impishly “Do I? How forgetful of me.”

“Nasty things clothes. All scratchy.” Josh stammered “ Don’t mind me though. No need to go to any trouble. Don’t bother with them. You’re just fine the way you are…REALLY!”

Yvette turned to josh…and shimmied.

“Really?” She smiled again. She lit up the room.

The heart rate monitor beeped again.

“Oops..” She said

A nurse walked in unannounced. She apparently didn’t see the naked girl.

“How are you doing young man?” she asked.

“Well …uh.” Josh was overwhelmed. He was a Geek. He was socially awkward to say the least. His tongue got in front of his eyeteeth repeatedly whenever women were present. How else could he explain that he couldn’t see how to speak? Now he had two females to contend with and one them was naked.

“You're our miracle boy.” The nurse said. “It’s impossible that you are still alive …yet here you are.”

She checked his sensor chart.

“Your blood oxygen concentration is good.” she muttered “Exceptionally good actually. That a bit odd.”

“Is that a bad thing?” Josh stammered

“Huh?…er no. That’s a good thing..but what is this? Hmmm…a little bit of an elevated heart rate? A period of higher than normal blood pressure?” She raised an eyebrow and looked at him.

“Um…the TV. It’s SharkWeek on TV.” he said. “ Nothing but sharks. It’s Rilly scary.”

She continued looking at him. Her eyes sparkled…her lips began to quiver.

“I imagine it was”…she choked out.

“You seem to be doing ok otherwise.” she gasped. “I have to go now.”

She stumbled out of the room and into the hall. She cracked up immediately once she passed through the door. He could hear her laughing.

“Shark week?” he heard her say “He said SharkWeek? After what he went through and he says he's scared by SharkWeek on TV?”

She totally lost it. She was either laughing or crying. Josh couldn’t tell which.

“What did I say?” Josh muttered.

“No idea” Yvette said and giggled. She beamed at Josh.
