Chapter 54: Meanwhile at city hall,

.......................................................................................................................................................................................

(present day)

The councilman, a Mr. Hawg, who’s son had been killed had managed to be elected to Mayor. He was having a little discussion with the new police chief.

“What do you MEAN you don’t know where he lives?” the new mayor was on the verge of apoplexy. "Your predecessor sent a patrol car to get him the last time!”

“I’m sorry sir” the new Chief of Police said. The Old Chief had seen the writing on the wall and had turned in his resignation and left for parts unknown. So had many of the old timers. There had been an unusual number of retirements all at once. All of whom had left town for safer locales. There actually wasn’t anyone still there who had seen me at the time in question.

“Something happened to the computer system Sir.” The sweating new Police Chief stated.” There ARE no records. Nothing.”

“We’ll just see about that”. The mayor stormed out of the office. The New Police Chief began thinking that this job wasn’t all that great after all.
