#25 : Somewhere in the Far East

Marc TwoFeathers and Captain Parmalee had been private security for an Evil Oil Company overseas. The two of them had been on Patrol. Their job was to protect an oil pipeline. Lately the Jihadists had taken to blowing up pipelines. That had gotten to be a real pain and a bit expensive for the Evil Oil Company. Captain and Marc’s jobs were to see to it that it didn’t happen much.

"“Sector three. Someone’s climbing the fence" Dispatch had informed them over the radio. ”Make that several someones.”

“You’d think they’d learn” Captain yawned. “after that ass whuppin we gave them last week. Fire it up and let’s go check it out.”

“Roger that.” Marc replied. He did a bootleggers turn, put the pedal to the metal and peeled out. Their combat car kicked out a rooster tail of gravel from all four wheels as it picked up speed. He replied to Dispatch. “We be gone.”

“I copy, ‘you be gone’.” Dispatch replied “You’re the closest. Back up is already rolling.”

Marc and Captain rolled. Unfortunately someone had loose lips. Either that or there was a quisling in Ops. It was a trap. They were ambushed. A remotely triggered IED exploded when they went by. They were caught off guard because it happened miles before they reached the supposed break in. They were just cruising along, not expecting any trouble yet.

Mistake.

An explosively formed projectile hit their car just right. If it had hit them anywhere else it would have killed them and the car. As it was the projectile went through their lightly armored combat car sideways at knee level. It burned a hole in the drivers door, crossed over and burn a hole thru the passenger’s door as it exited. It barely harmed the vehicle but it destroyed their legs. If it hadn’t been for their new “auto-tourniquet’ clothing they would have died right then and there. As it was they heard an earth shattering Ka-Boom, felt a lot of pain, then they were out of the game.
