Wandering Spark - Part 39
From the touch of her hand, Varan became hot. He climbed on the saddle, behind Nila’s back; Kruchina snorted. The mage kept at arm's length and, as Varanu thought, he noticed the slightest details - a change in skin color, a change in the temperature of the cheeks, the reaction of the pupils...
"You're all cut," Nila said. "You were fighting, or what?"
"With a spikeleaf."
Nila squinted over her shoulder.
"Really?"
"Yes, accidentally," Varan lied again.
"Zhurbina, go ahead!" Ordered Nila. "The serpenter slid forward, leaving a trail behind them. The magician in the saddle didn’t turn around."
Long hair of Nila swayed at Varan in the face. Weakly reflecting on what he was doing, he wound them on his fist.
"What are you doing?" Whispered Nila.
"Where have you been?" Varan pulled more and more, throwing the girl's head back. "Do you even know who this is?"
"What's the difference to me... Let me go, you moron!"
Kruchina became agitated. She hit the water with the tail.
"Stop!" Cried the Nila louder.
"You were with him? Yes?"
Neela hit him with the elbow under the breast - strongly and very accurately. Varan slipped from the saddle and almost jerked the girl away, but Neila clung to the bridle and hasn’t fallen. Varan had to release her hair; he somersaulted into the water, and when he emerged - Kruchina went far ahead. Varan was left alone in the dark. The light that penetrated from below, from the sea, was weakening by every minute.
