Ganga River History.

Ganga is given the status of the most holy river in Hindu scriptures. Also, many Indians consider this river as a lifeline, which removes their daily needs.

In India, the Ganga is worshiped as Goddess Ganga. Historically, this river is of great significance as the capital of many states remains on its coast, like Kara, Kannauj, Allahabad, Kapila, Kashi, Prayag, Hajipur, Pataliputra, Patna, Murshidabad, Munger, Bahrampur, Bhagalpur, Saptagram, Nabadwip, Dhaka and Kolkata etc.

In 2007, Ganga was given the fifth place in the most polluted river category. Due to pollution, not only humans but species of 140 fish species and 90 amphibians have been damaged.
The amount of fecal coliform found in the waste washed by the people in the Ganges is 100 times more than the official maximum of the Government of India.

Ganga Action Plan was also constructed in view of the importance of Ganga, to keep the river clean and to clean it. But due to the corrupt and mischievous people, this plan has also failed and the level of pollution in the river is increasing day by day.

History:

In the second millennium BC, the Harappan civilization was given the status of Indian civilization, because at the same time they started moving from the banks of river Indus to the bank of river Ganges.

The river Ganges is the longest river in India. During the early Vedic period of Rigveda, Indus and Saraswati river were the main sacred rivers, whereas the Ganges river was not given much importance at that time. But in the three Vedas, the Ganga has been given the highest importance and the most sacred river is also considered. From the Maurya Empire to the Mughal Empire, the Ganga river plain became one of the most powerful places of the state.

After this, in 1951, when India announced the creation of Farkara Barrage, there was a dispute between India and East Pakistan (Bangladesh), its water sharing controversy. In 1975, the actual barrels, which were completed in 1975, were turned into 1,100 m3 / This water was folded from Ganga to Bhagirathi, which used to go to Kolkata.

It was believed that even in the worst drought season the water flowing in the Ganges remains around 1400 to 1600 m3 / s and that is why in the dispute 280 to 420 m3 / s were left for East Pakistan. After this, a 30-year treaty with Bangladesh was signed in 1996.

The rules of this agreement were somewhat difficult, but it was so clearly written that if the flow of water in the Ganges was less than 2000 m3 / s in Farakka, then both India and Bangladesh would get 50% water, in which every country has 10 days Can take at least 1000 m3 / s of water in time interval. But even after this treaty the water distribution seemed almost impossible.

After this, in March 1997, the flow of water in the river Ganga reached at the lowest level of 180 m3 / s. But due to this barrage, Bangladesh was quite comfortable to use water.

Kumbh Mela:

Kumbh Mela is a huge Hindu pilgrimage, in which all Hindus gather on the banks of river Ganga. The ordinary Kumbh Mela is held once every 3 years, the Semi Kumbh Mela is celebrated once in every six years in Prayag and Haridwar and the full Kumbh Mela once in every 12 years (Ujjain, Nashik and Prayag (Allahabad) , Haridwar,). Maha Kumbh Mela, which comes once in 12 or 144 years, is organized in Allahabad.

Many festivals and festivals are organized on the banks of river Ganges. Including mainly religious songs ranging from singing to many medicinal camps. In all pilgrimages, pilgrimage to Kumbh Mela is considered to be most sacred. Lakhs of millions of people come here to enjoy this fair.
In this fair, all the sadhus from the corners of the country wear saffron and as well as the Naga ascetic also come to this fair. It is said that Naga Sadhus do not wear any type of clothes on their body.

The river Ganges is the most popular river of our country. In India, the Ganges river is also known by the name of Ganga Maa or Ganga Maiya. In our country of India, there is great respect in the minds of people towards the Ganga, people here worship the Ganga.

The people of India collect the water of the Ganges in the house and also use it in the holy work. The water of the Ganges is so sacred that it is not bad even after keeping it for the year.

According to Hindu belief, the Ganges is also called the river of heaven. It is believed that after bathing in the Ganges, all their sins are washed away.
