A School Nurse's Report Posted Postumously-by Isabel F. Kellman

My first thought of reading about your challenge are the international events that occurred at this time, with WWI, and with international figures, or more universally known events to the world. With my belief that all history is local, at the very least in a relative sense. I went to my public library (which come to find out has a killer database of old local newspapers) and did something very simple, but at the same time quite enlightening, I read the paper, 100 years ago to the day.
My first impression was how in depth the people were who posted information for the public record. We all could benefit by paying attention to the level of respect placed towards the reader, as well as those who were talked about in articles. The pages of my local newspaper were jammed with content, from national news to "Mrs. J.A. Dahl entertains 21 in her home Friday to what was reported by all a pleasant experience."
The story that jumped out was the "Nurses Report" for the local schools. My little niece that goes to school is sick with a cough, so she could not go to school the other day which really bummed her out. The kids of 100 years ago had all concerns that we have today plus some very serious that we are lucky enough to not have to worry about. The Influenza Epidemic of that era comes to mind immediately.
Here is the rundown below of the (very thorough) report posted, 100 years after the fact, thanks to the great public asset that is the public library, and modern technology. This nurse gets to place her report over five generations later to people across the world thanks to a technology she would likely have no clue would ever exist. What a world we live in because of those people who came before us, like Oelwein Iowa community schools traveling nurse Isabel F. Kellman, 100 years ago to the day.

Thank you very much for reading it @shanto24. I wish I could have put the whole paper that day on there, it was 8 pages then, it is 5 or less now.

This is impressive... Wow

Thanks for reading @fejiro!

What an interesting find! I also enjoy reading through old newspapers while doing research for the same reason. I especially love old advertisements... Often very funny from a contemporary standpoint!

Totally agree @charliehersh. It's probably going to cost me in the contest but it was well worth the time. The paper of my small town then is almost twice as large (with nearly entire pages of content) versus today. I was also struck by how many organizational meetings that took place back then. I stopped counting after a while but found more than 20 meetings that were documented to have taken place during this publication. Yes, the advertisements are pretty hilarious at times. Thanks for the feedback @charliehersh!

Totally agree with you @cryptkeeper17 .. . Influenza used to be a big deal 100years but thanks to medical advancement, it's curable and hopefully cancer will be 100 % curable someday
