The Sanctuary: Chapter 11

Chapter 11

Dylan, and his classmates was put to the grinder by their coach. The training was so spartan that the whole class shed tears of blood. This lasted for a week when the coach finally decided to end their suffering.

Finally the most awaited day arrived. It's time to choose the ten that will be part of the participants that'll represent their school in the inter-school competition.

"I'm very proud of you all! I saw how every one of you did your very best in training. If only I could choose all of you to represent our school, I will certainly do so. Unfortunately, I could only choose ten from this class." The coach said with a sigh.

"Since choosing is too difficult, I decided to on a ranking match to make the selection fair. Fortunately, you bunch fall in the offensive or defensive category. Thus the ranking match is the best method to decide the top ten. If you think this is unfair, and have an opinion, or complaint, speak now!" Declared the coach.

"We've no complaint, coach!" Everyone answered at the same time.

The coach nods in appreaciation, and declared the start of the ranking match.

To ensure that no one would be seriously injured, the coach only allowed the use of edgeless weapons. But for those who specializes in firearms, they are to used paint balls. And to know who will be matched with whom, the coach decided to use the drawing method. As such everyone's opponents are selected randomly. Again, this is for the sake of fairness. Very soon the drawing was completed, and the the first match started.

The first battle is between a girl who uses a bow, and a sword wielding guy. The match was intense but the bow wielding girl won the match at the end.

Then the second match was held...

Then the third...

...and so on.

Finally, it's fatty Jing's match.

Fatty Jing was matched against a speedy opponent who uses a knife to battle much to his dismay, as speedy opponent is his Achilles heel. Nonetheless, fatty Jing did not let his emotions get the better of him, and started using [Bronze Skin]. His body started changing, and he become a buff, bronze-skinned guy.

His opponent turned serious seeing this, and dashes towards fatty with incredible speed. Fatty squinted his eyes, and tries to tackle his opponent but the guy made a sudden turn, catching fatty Jing off-guard.

The guy then appear behind fatty, and stab with his knife. Fatty Jing who didn't use weapons did not panic, and cleanched his fist, and spin around, almost hitting the guy on the face! But his opponent is no slouch either as he jumped backward.

After that the two stared at each other but is not in a hurry to attack. They siezed each other looking for an opening. Suddenly, fatty Jing's eyes lit up, and thought of an idea. He then charges at his opponent who quickly dodges to the side. But fatty Jing's attack is not over, after missing the charge, fatty Jing jumped, and then landed with a bang!

Fatty Jing's landing causes the ground to shake a little, causing the guy who is dashing at him to lose his center of gravity. This causes the guy to stumble a little. Though he manages to stabilized quickly, that momentary paused is enough for fatty Jing, as charges with a tackle! His opponent crossed his arms to defend himself but fatty Jing's tackle was so strong that he flew outside the designated circle, and fainted.

The coach who saw this.could'nt help but whistle. "This guy will make a great meat shield," he thought.

After fatty Jing's won his match, several more matches are held. And after a long wait, Dylan's turn came.

Dylan walked towards the designated circle where his opponent is already waiting. His opponent is a tall, dark skinned guy who uses a blade as weapon. And as for Dylan, he took out his twin knives.

Dylan's style of fighting is that of a dual-wielding assassin. His advantage lies on speed, and agility, and his ability to manipulate his opponents perception, using his [Misdirection].

The blade wielding guy is not an easy opponent either, the blade have longer range than a knife, and its power obviously superior. Also, his opponent is a lot faster than the heavy weight fatty, and can move with incredible speed. Not to mention the other guy have an ability called [Blade Enhancement], a powerful ability that can make his blade faster, and stronger.

The two seized each other up first, but with the sound of the whistle they...
