When you are desperate to feed your family!

They call it "Living on a string of hope and a prayer"
Allow me to introduce you to another Papillon project that is now in the planning stages.

He has a family to feed, no one is employed and he is forced to scrounge in dustbins for food and recycables!

No one to help. Scrap food is a gift and he can sell the plastic and cans for a pittance to keep them alive.

A kind soul gives him a cigarette!

Here's another one loading his walker with scrap!

At least this guy doesn't make a mess!

On his way to sell the scrap!

All of the bags to be carried to the scrap buyers!

A day's work loaded onto a shopping trolley!

Some of the guys are in a haggard state!

She is moving to another home in the bush!

They are not criminals and all that they are doing is to try to stay alive. They earn very little and most of the time they are flat broke.
Imagine having unemployed sons and daughters with little children and you have to feed them every day? What will you do?
Especially if there are no jobs available?
Crime is not an option as you are an honest person?

This is where Papillon comes in, as we simply cannot allow people to suffer like this.
An interesting meeting took place today that might result in good news for these struggling souls.
A feeding scheme is not an option, as this will create dependency. A much better option is help them to grow their own food and to sell the surplus. Many benefits will result for them most notably dignity restoration and self generation.
We will keep you informed about our progress to turn this project into a realty.

these photos are not beautiful, but sometimes things need to be noticed and spoken about. well done.

Thank you my friend and I agree that the photos are not beautiful.
They speak of poverty and desperation, but also of human duration to fight the odds.
I just had to put this out there.
Blessings!

Praying hundred fold blessings over everything you set out to do. The Lord bless you and keep you 🙏 you inspire me. Thank you.

Wow! Thank you for this beautiful comment my dear friend.

I empathize. Been there, done that when I ran away from home at age 13. Good on you, buddy.

Namaste, JaiChai

Well this shows that you and I share some history my friend, as I also disappeared at a young age (15). One thing that we both can say is that life is the best teacher.
Namaste also to you my brother!
Stephen.

This is incredibly sad to see. I pray that they are safe.

Thank you my friend and I felt compelled to put their lot out there.
We will do for them what we can.
Thank you for the prayers.
Blessings!

I see people going through the trash bins here looking for scraps or items they can take to a recycling station to sell always a sad to see
I love the sound of this new project of yours helping them to help themselves I hope you can get it up and running

Thank you JJ and it's always heartsore to see determined people with nothing trying to make a living.
I am in the process of building a relationship with them in order to create their ownership of the project. Without their trust we will get nowhere.
Blessings!

Yes I am sure your room got you need there trust interest and ownership for this project but I am confident you can do it

@papilloncharity,

I don't know the details but I love the concept.

Creativity can be a great force-multiplier and when it comes to food production, I have long been fascinated. Google "Growing potatoes in a barrel" for those with limited horizontal space. The same thing can be done with a ton of other vegetables. All the discarded plant parts ... feed it to worms ... worm casting (poop) is the best fertilizer in the world.

My daughter once needed pure methane for a Science Fair experiment. It's very difficult to buy pure methane in the U.S. So, we built a bio-digester and a week later we had an inexhaustible supply of methane. Mind you, it was polluted with CO2 ... so we bubbled it up through calcium oxide. The calcium oxide we obtained by roasting seashells from the beach (drives off the CO2), dissolving them in water and pouring the liquid through a coffee filter.

We did have one problem: We couldn't exhaust the methane production. We ran it around the clock for days but the flame kept burning. We ended up having to simply dump the unexhausted fuel in a flower bed.

Heat to boil water, cook food and keep warm ... all from old food in the fridge that had gone bad. Restaurants throw out tons of scraps and uneaten food every day. That food if filled with untapped energy.

Thank you for the visit my friend, I tried to return the support before, but you didn't have a post available that was less than 7 days old. So I will go to your blog and have a peep again.
The authorities are working on a big methane gas project over here by using the fuel from the landfills to create electricity.
Your daughter's bio-digester interests me, as it could be a viable source for single users that live in shacks. I will have to look into it, as just maybe something can be designed to help the poor souls.
Blessings!

That sounds like a great idea to teach them to grow their food and sell the surplus! We don't have people scrounging through trash here really. If people are looking for metal, etc. to sell to recycle places, they will actually live at the dump. Yikes. I hope your project works out. Keep us posted! Blessings!! <><

Thank you and it will be a slow process my friend, as first I have to win their trust so that I can create their ownership of the project.
Blessings!
