Hangout Format:
This will go up at least 4 days before the BitShares Hangout. BitShares community members who post subjects to cover and bring topics of discussion are asked to do so in response to this post first. Worker Proposals are a Chief Focus in these hangouts, but other topics and projects are welcome to join. @officialfuzzy can finally pay people who have supported this powerful cryptocurrency for the past 4 years since its birth and evolution. So reply below with valuable topics, updates, info we should cover and earn upvotes from in this thread and earn a special bonus if yours are chosen!
How Much Time Per Topic?
Hangouts will be at least 45 minutes long, but depending on attendance and projects/topics to be covered may last up to 60 minutes. Given this, we will try to stay with 5-6 core topics and will fit in others where possible.
What do we Earn for Actively Participating?
Those who attend will each earn from a pool of bitshares that will be purchased with earnings from this post. They will then be given directly to you via our new guestbook that we are testing.
Fuzzy will be giving Beyondbits to community founders who attend this weekly hangout to give their own unique perspectives and expert commentary. He will also be giving them to people who give topics and information we choose to use in our hangout!
So make sure you get a BitShares Wallet!
And let's not forget...you get SP through upvoting quality information and content worth sharing with the top minds in crypto across the graphene ecosystem!
How to Join as a Guest Speaker
Step 4: RSVP Below with the following details:
- Project/Topic Name/News Piece
- Relevant Steemit Tag?
- Appropriate links to share?
- Steemit and/or Mumble account name of Representative/Speaker
- How should we Introduce you/your project/your news coverage?
- What is your bitshares account name?
Is Any Topic Off Limits?
Yes. We reserve the right to learn from the newest trickster trolling steemit consistently searching for way to insert chaos into the equation and devise future strategies for negating these. Naturally if these efforts become ham-fisted attempts at shutting down free speech in honest conversations, the audience will hold us accountable.
But with that said....pretty much anything can be covered--even up to and including current events. However, I personally will only be voting up stories that touch the blockchain in some way shape or form and will be asking the community to downvote absolute Rubbish! ;)
BeyondBits are powerful tokens worth upvotes on Steem, but you need to use BitShares Wallet and follow the instructions on WhaleShares.Net! So make sure you have a BitShares Wallet to receive and send them for upvotes on your steem posts!

Excerpt from this weeks Bitshares State of the Network Report
@billbutler has announced the release of a new version of the Bitshares reference wallet (v2.0.171121). This sprint has had 25 items closed by 8 separate developer who are being paid by the Bitshares blockchain as part of the Bitshares-GUI worker proposal.
Bitshares is now being traded on Binance.
Bitspark.io CEO George Harrap talks with Ashe Whitener about why they are switching their established remittance business from Bitcoin to Bitshares. This interview really shows the value of Bitshares and Market Pegged Assets to a business which requires the ability to transfer money from one local currency to another without the need to prefund bank accounts all around the world.
Discussions between the Bitshares Foundation, Bittrex and their legal counsel have concluded and the Bitshares Foundation is now waiting for the final results and is hopeful to be able to share the statement with the community soon.
Michael Taggart has spoken at the Latin American Blockchain Forum earlier this month. His 2x 45 minute sessions covered Bitshares, Steem and EOS and were spread out over 2 days with an audience including University students, investors, bankers and government officials.
@steempower thanks for sharing the updates on Bitshares Network. In my journey to learn more about Bitshares, I have been reading several of your posts and comments and realized you have a lot of knowledge on the 3 (bitshares, steem and eos). Thanks for sharing this valuable information to the steemit community.
I actually have a question for you to see if you can help me, suggest me what to do, or know someone with impact on Openledger or Bitshares that can help me get some funds back. This is what I did:
I transferred some STEEM funds from Bittrex to Bitshares.org, via Openledger-dex (OPEN.X), and made a mistake on the MEMO. Instead of puting my MEMO code, I wrongly entered: "openledger-dex" as MEMO. You can view this from 21 hours ago by now, on the https://steemit.com/@openledger-dex/transfers with my mistake and I found my transaction of 189.990 Steem. They actually have it, but as I did not enter my correct MEMO, their system did not deliver it to my bitshares.org account because they have "openledger" as MEMO, instead of "j23gt3-d940-76jtd34z-53rvt6q6" (which is my MEMO).
Thanks for your help in advance.
Regards,
@gold84
Worker Proposal Progress: Poloniex Offered Help by BitShares Blockchain Foundation; Poloniex Ignores Offer
Suggested Duration: 5 minutes
For approximately 2 weeks, Poloniex has suspended withdrawals and deposits of the BTS token. This is not the first time this year. The BitShares Blockchain Foundation has reached out to Poloniex to offer support if the problem is technical.
Poloniex refuses all offers of assistance.
If only there were a decentralized exchange ...
It would appear that they have opened withdrawal/deposits again, with no explanation for their downtime - market manipulation caught in the act?
Status of bitCNY and bitUSD force settlements
Suggested Duration: 5 to 15 minutes
Last week, the force settlement fee for bitCNY was changed from 1% to 5% in order to address the surface problem of bitCNY-price for BTS being above the feed price.
Is the bitCNY-price for BTS on the DEX still above the feed price? Are many force settlements of bitCNY still occurring?
If so why? If not, when can the change to force settlement fee be changed back from 5% to 1%?
Launch of Blockchain Academy
Suggested Duration: 5 to 10 minutes
"The BitShares Blockchain Foundation (BBF) initiates the Blockchain Academy Project which aims to provide the BitShares Testnet to students for educational purposes.
Saxion University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands is the first university to team up with BBF to participate in the project. The main objective of the Blockchain Academy is to familiarize students with the possibilities of the BitShares Blockchain.
...
Saxion is the first use case to show the possibilities of such a collaboration, motivating other universities worldwide to use the Blockchain Academy is an enhancement of their curricula."

Worker Proposal Progress: China Marketing Campaign's listing of bitAssets
Suggested Duration: 5 to 10 minutes
As part of the marketing effort that began two weeks ago, two of the targeted centralized exchanges have begun to list either the BTS token or bitAssets.
Great news, we should however be pushing more centralized exchanges to primarily accept smartcoins over the core BTS asset IMO.
Worker Proposal Progress: New GUI release
Suggested Duration: 5 minutes
A new version of the BitShares GUI has been released
Several new improvements including a change to how to buy the BTS token.
It's a particularly easy way to purchase BTS and we would encourage tutorials to include procedures for new users when explaining how to first acquire BTS. It removes the complications associated with explaining how to use the exchange.
Also, an announcement if you are using the web wallet at BitShares.org. The URL is changing to wallet.bitshares.org. If you have a "local wallet", also make a backup of your wallet.
BSIPs 19 and 20 were rejected by xeroc on the 23rd October 2017 without involving the BSIP author nor the community (via the hangouts).
I do not believe that such action without involving the community (nor completing peer review of the BSIP prior to rejection) is appropriate, the foundation's compliance worker proposal is not active yet thus there is insufficient network consensus to rule out these BSIPs at this moment in time.
Xeroc replied on telegram:
BSIPs should not be rejected in such a silent manner.
