The Energy Crisis Facing Australia
Hello Friends,
Here I am Lucia again trying to find a good and virtuous topic to inscribe and share at the same time to learn about.
So the topic for today is "Energy Crisis".
Australia is a warm country with many resources and a major supplier of energy to the world, including gas and uranium. Off the coast there are huge oil and gas mining operations and the main sources of energy production are found throughout the country, such as the Snowy Hydroelectric Plan. The latter supplies electricity to the main cities in the southern highlands, such as Canberra, and others in the region.
On top of that, we are a large coal-producing nation with the largest mine to be opened in Queensland, although there are many environmental problems in which many are concentrated. Despite all this, we are not immune to the huge energy crisis that looms over us and the electricity and gas supplies can not be guaranteed during the summer.
Last summer, South Australia suffered a disaster when a big storm knocked down the poles with wires and the lights went out. It was also a massive heat wave. The refrigerators stopped working, the food rotted and people suffocated in the houses where the air conditioning did not work at temperatures of 40 degrees below zero. A region in the state reached 48%.
As he slowly recovered, the questions and accusations became thick and fast. The Prime Minister and the Minister of Federal Resources met face to face on television. The government leader, Joe Wetherill, had pushed for renewable energy and many of these facilities were supplying the network. The other, Josh Frydenberg, was adamant in his policy of using coal-fired power plants as the most reliable.
The ridiculous notion that power was reduced due to the renewable energy carried by the cables stunned most of the spectators. He could not justify the wind as a cause, although they had reached peaks of almost 200 km / h during the storm. The trees had collapsed over them and the network was failing due to the closure of a coal station in Victoria, which had previously fed power to the state.
While we wait for genuine solutions, summer is just around the corner. Already in July, in the middle of winter, New South Wales has experienced temperatures at 20 degrees Celsius. The people went to the beach and went swimming. While the climate is uncertain and the future looks bleak, the power crisis is extremely serious. Hopefully something positive comes from the planned meeting for next week.
The prime minister has called all energy providers to Canberra for a meeting in an attempt to solve the problems and stop the increase in prices that are already paralyzing many.
