Get Inspired - A Different Approach to Education
Sergio Juárez Correa was used to teaching that kind of class. For five years, he had stood in front of students and worked his way through the government-mandated curriculum. It was mind-numbingly boring for him and the students, and he’d come to the conclusion that it was a waste of time. Test scores were poor, and even the students who did well weren’t truly engaged. Something had to change.
This is how you change the world.
The broken system I'm referring to today is our education system.
I wanted to share this article because when I came across it, it was such a breath of fresh air and resonated so true for me. It inspired me and gave me a glimpse of what our education could look like. An education system I wish I could've participated in.
I went through our education system never being challenged, mostly bored and left completely uninspired. When someone starts talking about how everyone has a right to an education, I completely agree, just not the kind of education that comes from our defunct, out dated system.
Every child is bubbling over with excitement to go learn when they first start school, our system manages to crush that curiosity and desire soon after and we call it an education.... Every child, everyone, deserves better than that. There's another way and it involves cultivating that excitement and desire to learn.
We are living in such exciting times where so many walls are coming down and failed systems that have been ripe for disruption for decades and even centuries are ready to be replaced. The more we see what new direction is possible the better equipped we are to start heading that way.
This is such a great story about what that looks like for a teacher and his students. It's a long read, but it's totally worth it.
A Radical Way of Unleashing a Generation of Geniuses

Great article. Can’t even imagine what it would have been like going through school where my interests actually directed my learning. My aunt homeschooled her three daughters using a similar approach. They have all grown up to be smart, independent and passionate girls. It’s been pretty cool to watch.
