Dear steemians,

On 3rd March, 2018 we applied for bank accounts for underprivileged children at @SchoolForSDG4 . We were planing to do it for few weeks and finally, we arranged first steps for few of the children.

We took photographs of children and parents who were not afford to pay and bring it for the application we need to submit in the bank. We will print their photography later.

Why Did We want to make bank accounts for kids?

None of the parents has bank accounts. They even don't know what is it and how to do a transaction with a bank. The result of the non-banking transaction, they face trouble fraudulent by educated people. In our area, many cooperative societies are established by rich people. They collect money from poor people every day as instalment with a promise that they will return double after a certain time. But the small-scale organization vanish later and poor become more poor and rich become richer.

The picture was taken by me when I was in a small tea stall. A day labourer holding a piece of paper which contain a number. He was playing for the lottery which is not monitored by govt. Some rich and political group created different branches here to gain more money from these poor people. Less educated people go to buy such tokens using their hard working money which they could save for their kids.

The board who arrange such lottery even don't give money sometimes if number match.It actually depends on them to whom the prize should go. Many people left jobs and play these games, they even can't feed the kids but the addiction became a serious problem for these family.

The bank account will help the people to think about saving some small amount for kids future instead using it now.

A few months ago, I wanted to take video of this unethical activities.

Look at the photography I have taken few months ago. many poor people were buying the number. I was attacked by a group in my area when I was taking pictures these activities.

Why we could not apply bank accounts for all children?

Parents are the key as nominee and guardian of the kids. They supposed to submit documents to apply for bank account. here are some major barriers to apply for all kids.

1. Nominee ( Parents) have no national ID card, any legal documents that represent they are the legal guardian of the children.

2. Nominee or Guardian can't write their name (signature). Bank does not accept an application without a signature.

3. Kids have no birth certificate.

Some of the parents could write their name though it was not proper. We will keep trying for more bank applications when documents and other things will be okay.
