Nestle and Coca Cola: Privatization of the largest underground water supply

in #economics7 years ago (edited)

Since 2016, there has been intense lobbying in Brazil, just to privatize important water supplies. This became evident at the last meeting in Davos in January 2018, where private conversations took place between Brazilian President Michel Temer and heads of Nestle, Coca Cola and Dow Chemical corporations. It is a group of 2030 Water Resource Group, which aims to privatize water. Mint Press reports that the Pentagon has armed the region for this purpose. The US military built its base at the borders of the rainforest over water capture. The official explanation is that the base prevents financing of terrorism in Lebanon.

Guarani aquifer - an underground water supply is a strategically important source of drinking water, which is sufficient for 200 years of global consumption. The water supply is located under Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay. Such a supply of water means a great opportunity for profit at a time when Earth is increasingly being robbed of natural resources or severely contaminated.

Political tensions between countries, racism and bribery by corporations are undermining this supply of drinking water, which is vitally important for locals. The fact that former US President George W. Bush owns big property right above the water supply, is just showing power of foreign investors and corrupt policies.

The stock of underground water stretches over 1, 2 million square kilometers and may be subject to energy, agriculture, food and drink business. Read more on Mintpress....

If there were 400,000 Guaranis not so long ago, there are now only 50,000 left to fight. Until 1988, in the Brazilian Constitution, the natives were not recognized as human beings. They are still killing and persecuting them. Indigenous peoples in South America are experiencing how their earth and water is being stolen ....well, now for decades!

Corporations brutally seize the soil and sources of water for their business. The film Even the Rain (También la lluvia, 2010) shows the fight of the locals and multinationals.

Guaranis lost as much as 95 percent of their territory, because of the cultivation of soy and sugar cane of livestock farmers - it requires huge amounts of fertile soil and water. As the natives no longer have much land, they are forced into extreme poverty and hunger. Survival Internatonal reports that Guaranís have suffered persistent genocide. Most elders get killed or even murdered in front of their families.

According to Brazilian media, corporations have a chance to rent Guarani aquifers, as corrupt conservative governments in South America are in favour of such business that exclude locals and public goods.

This is not good at all.

Did you know there's a guy in the Nestle family. I am not sure of his exact position but he believes that Water is not a basic resource and it shouldn't be free.

Privatizing Water Resources, doesn't sound like a good idea. You control the Water, you control the world is the new slogan. I hope it works out well for you guys.

if water is not a basic resource, than I would put himself on a test to live without water. Well, I have many clean underground water here around in case this happens. Our grand grand parents even had lot of nature wells here around. I still have one near my house. but I know that everyone ain't gonna be so lucky if that happens

Yeah you do have natural wells around yourself but keep in mind that those guys drill the water resources so hard that you won't have enough around you or in those underground resources may run out of water as predicted by the scientists.

for every problem there is always a solution. If that really happens all over the world, every household can buy its watertower + water cleaner. Today, they exist only in rural places in africa. https://www.wired.com/2015/01/architecture-and-vision-warkawater/
