Life Update - My Recent Brain Aneurysm "Adventure"

in #dtube5 years ago

Hello DTubers and Steemians! It's been a while since I've done a video. No, this is not one of my photo adventure videos where I take pretty photos and talk about camera settings and techniques. This is a life update where I explain why it's been about a month and a half since I've posted a video on DTube. Life has been interesting... I spent a couple weeks in the ICU at Renown Hospital in Reno, Nevada due to a brain aneurysm and bleeding on the brain. It was no fun but I did have some funny behavior. I talk about my "adventure" in this video. Hopefully, I'll be back to making beautiful photo adventure videos soon but until then, I thought you might enjoy this life update on why I have been absent here on DTube. I hope you had a great day out there and a great weekend. Cheers!

Thank the great spirit you made it through
all that @scottshots and family!!
It sure isn't a walk in the park to go through all
that as a patient or as loved ones close to you!
So glad you are out of the hospital and you look
great! You take it a little easier now, no boulder
jumping without a boulder chute lol

We often think how fun it would be to have
one those 4x4 mule toys to go long distances,
then walk a little and handy to haul all the gear!
All that snow removal was just a tad much this
year, we need to send the big CAT that cleared
ours to help clear yours! :-)
Take care my friend!

No boulder jumping... my balance is still a little off. But I will be hopping around out there again for sure! Happy to be doing better, just not 100% quite yet.
Yes, a little 4x4 would be fun up here for sure! I go on quite a few trails with my Nissan Pathfinder but there are many trails that are too small for it. In the Tahoe basin, most trails are single track so I might have to get better at biking with my camera bag...
The driveway is clear so we are good, but yeah, the yard is ridiculous this year. Waiting for some warm sun but it's supposed to rain and snow more this week...
Take care too, have a great day!

An interesting video @scottshots and did not know that you were sick, but now I hope all will be well and you will delight us with your work!

Glad you liked that one! Yes, things have been crazy around here lately but getting back to normal day by day. Looking forward to posting landscape photos again soon. Cheers!

I am so happy to see you recovering but I think now you have to be very careful about your health. Can't wait to see your amazing shot but health is first. Take care yourself buddy.

Thank you @priyanarc! Yes, I'm sure my first few landscapes shoots will be shot close to the road and my car. Fortunately, there are many great locations here that are near roads and I don't have to go on big hikes if I don't want to. Hope you had a great weekend!

Thank you much! And yes, I have already voted for you as a witness. Cheers!

I know it can be a scary thing. I had a stroke on New Year's Eve and it was terrifying. This is so much worse than a stroke. Please do take care of yourself.
Ren

Yikes! I'm so sorry you went through that @rubberduckiemom. I don't know... there were a lot of stroke patients in the hospital ICU with me and they seemed to be way worse off than I was. Glad you are doing ok now. Stay healthy!

We had a friend who died from an aneurysm, but we have had a couple of friends who have survived strokes; so you can see our shock. So happy you are better and very much alive.
Ren

Ouch, so sorry. Maybe I'm wrong with what I thought. I have heard of people dying from aneurysms, and I was told I'm super lucky I was near home and not way out on one of my photo adventures. It can definitely be bad and I'm happy that I feel almost normal at this point, no real permanent damage other than I now have a stint in my brain.

It is amazing! Apparently the young woman who plays Daneriss in Game of Thrones had two aneurisms while on the show! So amazing that you both made it.

I cant wait for you to start your photo videos again, but don't stress yourself out.

My wife read that to me! Pretty crazy, I would not want to go through that again.

Good news. I saw one of the Dr.s that treated me during my ICU visit. He said I was doing incredibly good and that I should be back to snowboarding next winter and backpacking this summer. He said to get back to work and start hitting those trails with my camera again. YES! New videos and photos should be coming soon... Cheers!

Oh, that is wonderful. I know not people able to do what you love to is rough. We have found what has caused the strokes, but haven't found the reasons it is happening yet. Apparently, I have way too many red blood cells and it is making my blood thick. The good news is it isn't cancer of the blood. Doctor said that is a huge positive answer there. She said for anything else it might be (still doing the testings for it all) there is only one procedure: phlebotomy. Basically it is a medieval answer known as blood letting. Haha! @scottf asked for an exotic woman, but he wasn't specific enough. He got a woman with exotic issues. haha.

Oh wow, that sounds like no fun. Glad it's not cancer! Good luck with the blood letting.

Just watched the whole video, very glad that your back from the brink Scott!

Thanks for watching! Yeah, me too... It was a crazy time and I'm really enjoying life as normal lately. New landscape photos will be shot soon... Cheers!

You are lucky to have recovered in a potential death caused by that aneurysm @scottshots so let us enjoy the additional life that God gave us :D

Indeed! Happy to be alive and breathing. Hope things are going good for you today @cryptopie.

This is some extreme "adventure" you experienced. I am so glad that you are OK and getting better over time. Also, I love your enthusiasm for going hiking again. Hopefully you are strong enough soon to do it! Looking forward to your future content.
All the best to you Scott!

I will go hiking again!!! Actually, I talked to my physical therapist about hiking this morning, she said I'm recovering well and she thinks I will be able to eventually go backpacking again. Good news! Hope things are going great for you!

So glad you're recovering from that big scare, Scott. Keep living free and enjoying more time on earth.

Yeah, me too... Thanks @daveonarrival! Always trying to live free for sure, you too!
I was hoping to go to Austin but I haven't made much $ in the last month and a half so unfortunately, I don't think it's going to happen this time. But I hope to see you at a steem event again sometime soon. Cheers!

Man crazy month! Good to see you’re on the mend 😊

Haha! Indeed! It it great to feel like myself again. Thanks for watching!

Yeah I bet it is, I know the feeling. Last year I was rushed to hospital and spent a month bed bound, they thought I might have cardiac disease but after many tests turned out I was having panic attacks. Took a fair while to get back on my feet but it was a great feeling when I did.

Looking forward to the return of your photography 😊

A month!? Oh man, I thought 2 weeks was bad. No fun but glad everything turned out ok for you. Glad you're back at it, looking forward to getting back at it soon too. Cheers!

Yeah it’s so easy to take health for granted until something happens, but you know the phrase, what doesn’t kill you 😊

My thoughts exactly! Been pushing myself lately and only getting stronger every day.
