Sete Cidades

Sete Cidades is a beautiful little paradise on Sao Miguel, the Azores.

In the past I had already written about the legend of Sete Cedades.
Who likes can read it here:

https://steemit.com/history/@lotusfleur/cry-me-a-river-eng-pt-en

This heartbreaking story is about a love affair between a princess and a shepherd.
Her shed tears formed today's Sete Cidades, the two-coloured lake.
One side shimmers greenish, the other bluish.

A grandiose and phenomenal natural spectacle and beauty for the eye.
It took some time until all photos were edited and I had put together a video. Since I currently only have the Huawei smartphone for editing pictures and video, I hope that some small amateur mistakes in editing, etc. will be forgiven.

I just wanted to give you as much insight as possible about this dreamlike area.

Sete Cedades means seven cities. Based on former seven cities in the Atlantic, so I think I have read according to Wikipedia once.

One can certainly claim that Sete Cidades is the most famous crater landscape of the Azores, which is why this place was chosen as one of the 7 natural wonders of Portugal. The beautiful view to the Lagoa Verde & Lagoa Azul, these impressive crater walls, simply incomparable as well as indescribable.

Sete Cidades is located in the west of the Azores island São Miguel.
You could say it's on the other side of Furnas, if you want to read my last post about the warm, healing springs of Furnas, please have a look here:

As a natural wonder of Portugal and landmark of Sao Miguel, the mystical Sete Cidades and its amazing Caldeiera leave a lasting impression on the visitor. The most beautiful sides of this fascinating landscape I present to you here.

Igreja de S. Nicolau

In the heart and center of the settlement Sete Cidades there is a small church called "Igreja de S. Nicolau". This church was built in the middle of the 19th century and was a private project, which was also run by the family who built the church.
But a hundred years later, when the descendants of the original family members could no longer maintain the church, so it was probably financially crisis, the church was given to the small village. When Sete Cidades was granted parish status, the church became a parish church.

Sete Cedades is a great place, especially on sunny days, because you can see the two colours of the lake better. Besides you can walk and hike here. The surroundings are also suitable for picnics, barbecues or camping.

But look at it from my perspective. Both the photographs and the approx. 7 minutes long video.
I look forward to your feedback.

Sete Cidades

https://steemit.com/history/@lotusfleur/cry-me-a-river-eng-pt-en

Sete Cedades significa sete cidades.

https://steemit.com/history/@lotusfleur/cry-me-a-river-eng-pt-de
