Should I Change My User Name?
So today was a day of contemplation in regards to my user name. Something that I've been going back and forth with for over a year now.
Especially since on Steem, it is all me and not so much my kids. Though when I hopped on, it was meant to be what I was already doing.
Also, with SteemFest around the corner, I wanted to test out editing and uploading from my phone since I will not be bringing laptop. It isn't as easy, that's for sure. Probably easier, uploading straight into DTube than going through YouTube first.
I also wanted to try out Kinemaster, because I liked the UI and wanted to give it a test before I actually paid for it. I am also liking Filmora very much though not the FilmoraGo which is for mobile. Ahhhh, decision, decisions, decisions!!
So, now for the question. I was thinking of changing my username on Steem. Yes, it is going to be a little tedious, but if I was going to, this would be the best time I think.
Before SteemFest and also before next year when Steem is going to start heading for the moon.
So what do you think? Is it a good idea? Have you done it before? Any tips for me? Would truly appreciate it :)

Okay, for me it's a little different to pronounce and remember your name. If you feel it that changing world make it better, do that.
Is there any way to change username in steem?
I will be the first one to do that. I hate my name. It looks like a bot and a male name! 😰

Yes, initially many thought I was male too...
I had caricature of the whole family as my profile pic ... so I guess it was hard to tell
But now, you cannot mistake the profile pic to be female .. haha
I guess because I know you, I cannot think you as anything but female
Don't hate your name... it's got a nice ring to it... like a rhyme :)
And sadly, you cannot change your name on Steem ....

Interesting that you brought up the meaning behind your name because I always thought it was a play on the expression Carpe Diem - ie. "sieze the moment".
I Think you should do what feels right.

Though you'd be surprised, how many I had to explain it to and then why the spelling is wrong... and then that you don't pronounce KAER as Car ...
And these friends and one of them is also a big time punster.....

It is a play on the expression Carpe Diem and I used the kids' initials to replace "Car"
It was one of many names I was toying with for the channel
esKAERpade - Escapade
iKAERamba - Ay, caramba
and of course KAERpediem - Carpe Diem
Who doesn't want to make the most of their day, so I went with the last one
But I really love handles like yours, it's your name, it's you... done! Simple, to the point and you own it :).
Of course, fickle me is going back and forth...

I didnt watch the video as I am in the room, lying down on bed now. Just from the text, hmmm... I personally think don't need to go through the hassle to change name. Unless you do not see it as a hassle, but a privilege and timely. To me, it is a great hassle, like need to start everything anew. Phew! Still support whatever decision you gonna make.

One day, you will be a grandma, and you will want to feature grandbabies, and it will be relevant again.
But, if you are going to rebrand, I say GO BIG or go home!
Rebranding is sometimes necessary as we grow. I would be very happy to keep watching and seeing your channel.

Howdy kaerpediem! I thought it meant Seize The Day! So I think it's very cool but now I see why you'd consider changing it. It you feel strongly enough to go through the hassle then I say go for it and if you decide to leave it that is very good also!
It does mean that and using the my kids initials for the first syllable...
I think it is pretty cool too but it was a channel and a handle meant for them
But of course, they grew into teens and left me with the channel that I grew on the Steem blockchain....
You know what's funny, I like names like yours .. hahaha
But of course, I do have a very common name unlike yours :)
And it is going to be a hassle for sure... so many things to take into consideration....

Howdy again kaerpediem! Thanks for getting back with me so fast. My name is a simple, common one over here. Well, if you are talking about steemit it might be uncommon. lol. I like it because it's short. But yours conveys a great message.
But if you decide to change it you will do a post about it right, so people know what's going on? I think you are a real blessing to Steemit!
After all that, I gave it more thought... talked it over with those who entertain me (read that as The Hubs and the kids hahaha) watched a video and decided I will just stick to it.

I was sitting here thinking about some ideas for my next post and ran across this one in my feed. (I now know what to write about). It's a knotty little question, which I always answer with something I call "The Phone Test." If I can say my username over the phone without the other person asking how it's spelled, I'm good to go.
However...
Sometimes a name becomes such a vital part of our identity, that to change it would almost be like losing a piece of ourselves. To me, "kaerpediem" might not pass the phone test, but it may just ace "The Identity Test." where the name itself, represents who you are to such an extent, that it would be better off to keep it.
The important thing is to do what's right for you and you already know what that is... :)
