Uh-Oh: Ohio is De-Registering People Who Haven't Voted in a While

in #dtube7 years ago (edited)

In person voter fraud basically doesn't exist, despite what Trump says. However, voter suppression tactics predicated on non-existent voter fraud DO exist. I've covered how it's happening in Indiana before, and this caller explained what's happening in Ohio. This is bad.

Voter fraud does exist in pockets of the country. In major cities, for instance. Just ask the ghost of Mayor Daley. It also exists in rural areas that are exclusively controlled by party bosses. Ask the ghost of Landslide Lyndon Johnson (who benefited from major voter fraud in the Rio Grande Valley in his first successful Senate campaign). That said, I think voter suppression is the bigger problem (by a multiple!).

Well, people should vote... ha .

That said, this is bad, and I don't agree with it. I just sometimes think the way to combat this stuff should be two-fold. Yeah, challenge the very notion that people who haven't voted for a while could be registered, and challenge the notion that we need to check IDs at the polls because of nonexistent voter fraud.

At the same time, try to get people to vote, and maybe organize ways to get IDs to people who have difficulty getting them. That way, you come out head either way. I seems like the voter ID thing has been news for so long now that everyone who was opposed to it could've found a way to get an ID by now.

Just playing devil's advocate... :)

I live in a place where if you want a drivers license or ID you have 2/7 (read two out of seven) days to get it done with a piss poor window that happens to be shorter than the business hours at my job (they open after I do, and close before I do).

I just make food, people can cook them damn selves, they provide a legally required service (that would be even more required if voter ID was a thing), I can't do that for myself (legally), and there is a problem there.

I would agree with voter ID laws if they decided to visit every resident (not residence) once a year to offer FREE ID services from a mobile facility. It still seems like a ridiculous waste either way, and if you could take the whole operation with you the ID's would be ridiculously easy to fake.

Seems like a lose lose, because unless all of those voters come from one place, they are only basically giving a recommendation to various representatives (like the electoral college) that would get drowned out by legitimate voters, and even if they didn't all came from one place, it wouldn't be enough to swing national elections. Voter ID just seems like a weird thing to me, I don't undherstand how it would change anything, even if a 10% of every national election is illegal, it doesn't seem to change anything.

Then if you get into local, it would be extremely obvious if the population stayed the same but all of a sudden there were an extra thousand or so registrants that voted.

I understand you are playing devils advocate, but I'm trying to talk this out in my head, and still don't see a benefit aside from culling voters rights, and I thought we've done enough of that.

Not surprising that Ohio is de-registering people. It is a hotly contested state and so Republicans will go out of their way to shrink the voting pool and make it disproportionately more Republican.

Ever notice that the one political party that is obsessed with throwing people off of voter rolls is the same party that can only hold onto power by using dirty tricks like gerrymandering?

Republicans wouldn't be able to hold Congress hostage if voting districts were drawn fairly.

Thank you. This photo shared this photo is very nice. This is an awesome photo, and you're really a good photographer

Uncle Owen!? This R2 Unit has a bad motivator! Look!

You look like you've been flagged into oblivion there, maybe it's because of spam like this?

Upon further notice, yes, that is exactly it.

With such hard hitting blogs such as "bitoin" (that is a one word post; the contents of which is "bit coin") I'm shocked you aren't a bigger earner here /s (which means end of sarcastic phrase).

I'm not going to flag you here, but please, do yourself a favor, drop the spam, and if you make another account, maybe you shouldn't profess undying love to a controversial figure in the community. You are kind of like if I joined ACLU web forums with a name like "hitlerdidnothingwrong".

Between the name, the spam, and hardly anything but resteems in your blog, I'm surprised your reputation isn't lower to be honest.

what spam in commenting?

I guess I missed what you had to add to the conversation, all I see is a bad gif with people screaming Ohio.

i think nothing wrong in that gif... if you dint like just ignore,.

Trump has a lot of stupid followers that don't even know a single shtt thing he did in the office, it would be very akward for those who supported him in the past but are now being prosecuted for a whole bunch of trouble that he imposed to the people.Trump be like,"Illegal immigrant? You better get of the country!"
I think he's going to fire every worker in the US before he'd realize that the economy(state) is losing a lot of manpower and that the state is in turmoil because of his decision... This really is a bad thing for the people who living there.

From my point of view, I think that political fraud, instead of a habit, is a pattern that eliminates any understanding without taking into account the blessing that the person can be chosen by a complete or almost complete population. To show a button like Venezuela is.

If I could explain to you the great fraud that exists in Venezuela, a book would be very short ... the difficult situations that are lived is something that is inexplicable .... where there has been the biggest electoral fraud and huge has been in Venezuela my friend @davidpakman I invite you to read and inform you a bit of the difficult that is happening venezuela that was once a rich country and now all Venezuelans are leaving their own country to other countries to get a better life ... !!
