How I learning to draw #1steemCreated with Sketch.

in #drawing7 years ago (edited)

I begin a series of posts about how I learn to draw. I understood a long time ago that in indie development without drawing skills is hard. If I want to create something myself or even in a small team, drawing skills are very important. If this is a group of developers, then someone must take on the role of a concept-designer. If I want to realize some kind of my own idea, then all the more I need to convey the images of this idea to the team and inspire it. I have already painted before. You can see my “Just Draw” series of posts. I draw on Ipad in "Clip Studio Paint". Now I decided to launch a series of posts with documenting my path in each of the areas needed to develop the game. I will be very happy to communicate with other developers. We chose a very difficult, but interesting way. I think we all will be useful to communicate, follow each other and share experiences. Let's support each other on the Steem. Let's create unique content that can be found only on the Steem.

In learning to draw, I adhere to a concept that implies that everything can be drawn using simple basic shapes (cube, cylinder, cone, pyramid, and sphere). If I learn to draw these forms in perspective with ease, I can draw everything I need for my tasks. The process of creating something new is the process of finding interesting forms in compliance with aesthetics and other design nuances. In this series of posts we will see how it works. You also know that I learn Blender because creating 3D objects is just as important when creating games. In this regard, I will try to create what I drew in 3D.

Now I have prepared the tool, training materials and is ready to go. In this post, I start from the beginning. I do basic exercises and get used to the workflow. I avoid using "ctrl+z". I take aim and draw the lines several times. In fact, it is important to follow this technique and next i think we will see the benefit of this approach.

I will be glad if you will draw with me!

Features of work:

  • Try not to use "ctrl + z"
  • Aiming through the air
  • Draw from light lines to dark lines
  • Draw takeaway lines
  • Scale and rotate the canvas
  • We make movements fast, easy and smooth.
  • On accuracy not much bother
  • Shading is not needed
  • Instead of shading use the envelope lines
  • Consider the thickness of the lines

What is training here?
We drawing elements of which will consist of sketches.

Straight lines, arcs and waves:
We make a lot of points on the canvas and connect them. When the directions are inconvenient for drawing, we reflect or rotate the canvas.

Circles and ellipses:
Mark up the sheet. Then draw 3-4 times by air, 3-4 times by canvas. It does not make sense to do it carefully. If you then need a very clean sketch for the render, you need to do it with the help of tools.

Make random forms:
With the help of all the studied elements, we draw the forms with a thin brush and draw a dark line around it.

Cubes:
This is one of the most important basic exercises that I will continue to train further.

Let`s work! Success doesn't come to our. We go to it!

Oh i love these series of yours, they really break down arting into the fundamentals and it is the fundamentals that are very important :) These forms, the understanding of their basic gestures and lines, they will surely teach anyone who has a real interest in art the basic steps into being able to draw complex things in the future :D

So great to see you returning / revisiting this series, @spiritabsolute :)

Take the challenge! Let's train with me. I see in your works that it will be interesting to you to try to draw using basic forms! ;)
