TacoCat’s Travels (Finland) #13: Petting Moon Moons! 🐶
Hey Steemit!
My previous post ran kinda long since it was quite an eventful day so here's the continuation!
4 April 2018. Friday. (Part 2)
It was our last day in Rovaniemi, Lapland and we visited Santa Claus' Village just before our flight in the evening. After walking around the main area in the Village we went to check out something special - the Husky Park!
We could hear the huskies borking even before we entered 😆
The attractions cost money to go in, and we had to pay about 10 euros or so to enter the Husky Park but we could stay as long as we liked. And the guy at the counter let us leave some of our stuff with him! I think he doesn't normally do that for customers; what a nice guy! Anyway we only left 1 of our bags with him so it wouldn't take up too much space.
shniff shniff 🐶
All the huskies/Moon Moons were kept in cages, not like in those dog cafes. I guess they're pretty tame but they could still be dangerous or hard to manage if there's so many of them running around openly. Most of them were pretty docile though.
shniffing for treatos 😄
There were huskies of all different coloured coats and they each had an info card with their names, age, personality etc. hooked onto their cage. Most of them shared cages so I guess they had "roommates" and didn't feel lonely. They do live in packs in the wild after all.
There were soo many cages! Or enclosures I guess.
Hehe look at the doggo on the left doin a good stretch
Here's a video I took of the huskies in their cages, borking and stuff.
Most of them looked pretty bored if they weren't running around or playing with their friends. I hope the trainers gave them some good pets and playtime.
whatchu lookin at
There were many spots around the cages with yellow snow. The snow really makes their pee very obvious but at least you knew where not to stand. 😆
I tried to play with them by throwing snowballs near them and one of the doggos tried to catch it with his mouth but it just explodes when he touches it. I don't think he was pleased. 😅
the real downward dog 😄
We tried to pet some of them but the cages are pretty tight so we could only put part of our hands through the gaps, and we could only touch them if they came close. I was a little scared they might bite but they just sniffed around. Maybe they were looking for some treats.
After a while a few doggos let us pet them! 😊
They're such beautiful creatures, and their fur was actually a little rough but they seemed to like us stroking them. 😊
hehe scritch scrotch
The huskies were all so cute! They were all fairly large though, probably so they could start training to be sled dogs, 'cuz surprise! Another thing you could do in the park was go on a husky sleigh ride! 🐕🐕🐕
We didn't go on the ride because it was a little pricey for the short duration and we had already gone on the reindeer one. But lucky for us there were some other tourists going on the ride and we got to watch! Here're some videos I took of them going on the sleigh ride! Apologies for the small size since I was using my phone and my hands were cold. 😅
And coming back from the ride!
They're all so cute and well-behaved. And you could tell they were well-trained too because they knew exactly where to go and could understand Finnish! 😄
After all that excitement we took one last look around the park before heading out.
The huskies near the entrance were actually puppers! And they're already so big!
The huskies gave us a treat and "serenaded" us just before we turned to leave the park! Maybe they were sad to see us go? 😔
They were so silly and cute. We took one last selfie with one of the puppers before we left.
After that we headed to the bus stop and boarded a bus to the airport. It wasn't that long a trip since the airport was pretty close. But I got another surprise at the airport!
It's a corgi pupper!!! 😍😍
Corgis are probably my favourite breed of dog because they're so smol and cute and derpy and silly! I might have stalked the corgi a little bit; I wanted to pet him so bad! But I wasn't sure if his owners spoke English and we needed to check-in and find our gate. 🙁 At least I got to see him once.
Lookit this cutie drinking water like a thirsty boi
I was so happy when I saw the same corgi in a bag at the Helsinki airport! He was too fast and far for me to snap a photo though. 😟
Oh well, I got to see so many doggos today and we had a big cheap pizza for dinner so it's all good!
hehe silly Moon Moon

Even with their poor eyesight, dogs can still see better at night than humans do.
cool fact! I guess they need to see better at night for intruders and attackers
