Do guns kill people, or are they inanimate objects, like a knife or a car? Do you think it’s right to deny somebody their right to a gun? Do you think it’s worth it to know how to use a gun, even if you don’t personally own one? Do guns make you uncomfortable, and if so, have you ever tried learning to shoot one? At what age did you first experience a gun?

These are all questions I want you to ask yourselves, and then engage in a discussion. Leave a Comment of your own, and Reply to other peoples’ Comments! But remember to keep it respectful and purely discussion, no arguments or derogatory remarks please!

The story of how I first experienced the world of guns:

I was a young child, probably about 5 years old. I was (unfortunately) at a Burger King with my brother and my grandparents when an impatient customer decided he would rather rob the place than wait for his food. So he went to his car and came back with his gun. Within a couple seconds everybody had started freaking out and started to hide under the tables, out of a lack of other options. This was a fairly traumatic event and out of all of my childhood this memory stands out as one of the most negative and peculiar.

Nowadays, I am almost 23 years old, own the .38 special revolver you see pictured above, and I feel very capable of using it for self-defense or the defending of others if need be. However, I would prefer to never have to use it on a human. For now, I blow away paper targets at the shooting ranges.

I think it’s important that we all have guns and have the necessary training to use guns safely. If you glimpse into history the only people who successfully convinced populations that they don’t need guns, immediately starting killing people by the millions. This is called Democide, when your government decides to kill you, and it typically is much easier for them to kill you once you have been disarmed. Democide is the #1 cause of unnatural death, right up there with war itself! Sad, but true facts. I think we need guns, but obviously we need to be trained on how to use them, and we also need to make sure that people who are homicidal psychopaths can not access them. Only psychologically healthy people should be able to operate guns so nobody is hurt or killed, including themselves.

What do you think of this topic, or of my story, and the facts I’ve shared?

Sort:

Guns are just tools that can be used for good or ill just like anything else. They have no ability to act on their own or to impart evil intent onto their users. Good people with guns and training in their responsible use are no risk to their fellow man. Bad people will not be compelled to good behavior by laws they have no regard for and do not follow.

You hit the nail right on the head brotha!
I think that it’s pretty suspicious they changed the Gun Emoji to a Squirt-Gun Emoji... 🤔

Excellent topic to post about.

Gun ownership is what stops the tyranny of governments. Full stop.

ALL the other arguments, in my opinion, is just smokescreens and virtue signalling.

If people argue on other issue EXCEPT the freedom of its citizens, they are blind to the big picture.
If the price of freedom for everyone is gun ownership, then so be it.

I came across a post yesterday, which even debunks the 'safety myth'.
A 'must post' to people trying to argue for the gun control argument.

A good post, and one that is going to become more and more relevant, I think.

(I posted - on Christmas mass shooting from a long time ago- never reported.

Have a look and leave an hypothesis!)

Wow yes I am 100% with you on all your points made. I think it is a basic and important right that we all (are supposed to) have. It’s also important to note that most shootings are in gun-free-zones where people can’t defend themselves and the only ones with guns are criminals... Gun Laws only work on law abiding citizens and are thus useless...

Gun Laws only work on law abiding citizens and are thus useless...

.......you can hear virtue signalers ego's deflating, if you listen closely....lol

You know my opinion on this... For us Europeans it is incredible to see someone like you owning a gun. But it is in your DNA there on the other side of the Atlantic. I don't see a need to own a gun, and it would scare me to know if my neighbours had guns...
They truly scare me... What if my son would find it, by accident shoot my neighbour...
But, luckily, I live on the other side of the Atlantic! ;-)

Don’t worry Kris, my gun is in a locked case 😜 I am also concerned of somebody getting my gun and having an accident so I keep it locked away at all time! And honestly, if the USA didnt have the #1 stockpile of guns out of every country, combined with the large amount of FEMA Camps, and so much crazy uncertainty, I probably wouldn’t have a gun. I’m a peaceful man... But I’m not going to be a victim anytime soon! 😏
