1. Das Ehrenmal wurde 1945 erbaut, um die gefallenen Soldaten der Roten Armee im Zweiten Weltkrieg zu ehren.

2. Das Ehrenmal soll an die etwa 80.000 Soldaten, die bei der Schlacht um Berlin gefallen waren erinnern.

3. Die Statue auf den Monument wurde vom sowjetischen Bildhauer Lew Jefimowitsch Kerbel (Лев Ефимович Кербел) und Wladimir Jefimowitsch Zigal (Владимир Ефимович Цигаль) gefertigt. Lew gehörte zu den hochdekorierten Künstlern der Sowjetunion.

4. Unter der Statue befindet sich ein Sowjetisches Embleme mit der innenschrift "Вечная слава героям павшим в боях с немецко фашистскими захватчиками за свободу и независимость Советского Союза" (Ewiger Ruhm für die Helden, die im Kampf mit den deutschen faschistischen Eindringlingen für die Freiheit und Unabhängigkeit der Sowjetunion gefallen sind).

5. Beim Kalten Krieg wurden Sowjetische Ehrengarde aus der DDR um den Ehrenmal aufgestellt um es zu beschützen.

6. Die Hand der Statue ist nach unten gerichtet als Symbol für die Absetzung von Nazi Deutschland. Es wird aber auch behauptet das es eher als Symbol für die Gefallenen gilt und es Richtung der Gräber ausgerichtet ist und nicht für die Absetzung von Nazi Deutschland steht.

7. Bei der Anlage befindet sich ebenfalls zwei T-34/76-Panzer und zwei Kanonen, die in der Schlacht um Berlin im Einsatz waren. Rechts und links vom Hauptweg stehen zwei Sarkophage mit den Namen gefallener Offiziere.

6. The hand of the statue is directed downwards as a symbol for putting down Nazi Germany. It is also claimed that it is more of a symbol for the fallen and it is aligned towards the graves and not for symbolize putting down Nazi Germany.

7. The plant also has 2nd T-34/76 tanks and 2 cannons used in the Battle of Berlin. To the right and left of the main path are two sarcophagus with the names of fallen officers.
