MAP Rewarder: Distributed Rewards to Delegators for 9 December 2018 (17.7% APR)

This week's distributed profits are 0.340%, equivalent to 17.7% APR.

Total rewards to delegators, including bonuses, are 0.350%, or 18.3% APR.

Our payouts this week are significantly higher than all of the bidbots listed on iSteemd. This again illustrates the advantages of having a managed fund compared to using just one algorithm.

This post will be slightly different to previous ones; am experimenting with making it shorter!

The values below that relate to the Steem blockchain are given as 7-day averages to give a fairer picture of what has happened during the whole week.

Let's lay out the different percentages to make them clearer. These are all calculated in terms of STEEM per SP.

Value of Steemit upvotes = APR 22.5% [1]

Our MAPR distribution [3] is higher than the average blockchain author rewards [2].

Also, the total amount MAPR has given out as distribution, prizes and upvotes, [4] is higher than [2].

Overall, I am please with the results this week, with another increase in payouts.

I have changed the layout of our numerical data; I hope the different numbers are slightly clearer!

The curator-support upvotes have all been moved to the account @rycharde. This means curators will receive more upvotes and this MAP Rewarder account can concentrate on earning income. It also means I no longer need to show the data for such upvotes, hence some of the numbers have been removed as no longer relevant.

All our percentages are calculated like-for-like based on STEEM so that these are real returns in STEEM per delegated SP (which is also priced in STEEM).

A reminder that we have two missions: to be profitable to delegators and to support our MAP Curator Trail and thereby improve the quality of posts on Steemit; 5% of income will go to supporting the Trail.

To people thinking about delegating to MAP Rewarder, I have done some analysis about the ability to upvote every undervalued post we find and, in order to do so, we can comfortably manage about 500k SP. We therefore have plenty of room to grow.

Although we do not have a referral system, inviting new delegators will increase income to existing members. The value of the bonus upvotes depends on our SP, so the higher the SP the greater those upvotes will be!

Blockchain News

We are still stuck in "haircut" territory - though I prefer to call it a "tonsure" - so I'd like to look at what difference this is making to our earnings.

The official blockchain price of STEEM is a whisker above 40 cents; the internal market exchange rate oscillates in a tight range around the same price. The external STEEM price is currently about 25 cents.

Recall that the blockchain price is currently set in such a way that a $1 SBD would result in an exact 10% debt ratio compared to STEEM. In other words, if STEEM was really at 40 cents then the debt ratio would be 10%; a price above this would see the SBD debt ratio drop.

Another way for the debt ratio to fall is to use the conversion method to exchange SBD into STEEM as this would decrease the amount of SBD in the system. This is currently not a profitable trade as the internal exchange rate is at about the same price. However, it is also unlikely to be highly unprofitable, so as a neutral trade it may be worth doing just to bring the debt ratio down.

The biggest effect, however, is the external market price, especially that of STEEM relative to SBD. That is something few of us can have a meaningful effect upon.

As far as rewards are concerned, upvotes and reward payouts are being calculated using the blockchain price of 40 cents. This means that rewards in STEEM and SP are not really affected by the differential between internal and external prices. The very small amount of SBD being printed has a negligible effect on earnings.

The blockchain values of upvotes and rewards continues to edge upwards due to an increase in the reward pool due to a decrease in activity. For Steemians dedicated to the Steem platforms, this can be a highly profitable period, but only if you look at it in terms of earning STEEM - look away from the Dollar amounts!

I continue to seek new sources of income to supplement our current algorithms. As always, the only certainty is change.
