This is the report for curation activity of last week of the Nigerian community curators.
The team charged with the responsibility of gathering posts from the #nigeria tag and subitting to the bigwaves group after checking for plagiarism and fulfilling the necessary requirements.
The team is also tasked with the responsibility of keeping the sub-community and community safe from threats that may arise from the sub-community we are charged with curating.
Examples of such threats include, scammers, spammers, notorious plagiarists, while removing sentiments, partiality, personal issues and maintaining discipline, courtesy and accountability during post curation.
The team consists of some high ranking steemians like @donkeypong, @infovore and @hanshotfirst, who are committed to rewarding hardworking authors and giving them a chance of a decent payout.
The whatsapp group has grown to almost 70 new steemians, although some are yet to get their confirmation mail.
The growth rate is expected to increase by mire than ten folds this week as we are engaging in aggressive publicity campaign for the group and steemit with the assistance of the owner of ballspedia, a group on facebook with about 15,000 people and 4,000 active members.
The owner of ballspedia happens to also be a member of our group.
The group consists of amazing and seasoned authors from various walks of life and institutions across the country and of recent, the group has extended it's reach outside the shores of Nigeria, with members from South Africa trooping in.
Steemians from the community have also indicated interest in joining the group.
The genesisproject is a mentor-ship project, originally aimed at grooming and introducing the next generation of talented writers from all around the world to steemit. It is a place to help them find their footing on the platform.
Like I initially said we are expecting the size of the group to increase by more than ten folds with more than 1,000 new members expected to sign up in the coming weeks.
The group aims at supporting the Steemit In Nigeria conference and after party coming up in November.
Try and take a look at the tag and lend your votes, thank you.
Rules of curation
In my earlier post, the rules of curation were given as:
Downloaded or borrowed pieces must be properly referenced.
Post must not be guilty of hate speech or deregatory remarks at a member of the steemit community.
These rules must be adhered to strictly please
General warning
Please note that image theft can occur from referenced images that were downloaded from copyrighted sources. Please authors are enjoined to use stocked images that are free to download from sites like shutterstock, pexels, pixabay and so many others, if you cannot confirm if the image is copyrighted or not.
Tip: Avoid wikipedia images as they are sometimes copyrighted.
Fraudulent agendas are not tolerated. Agendas like:
HYIP (High Yield Investment Programs)
Ponzi schemes
Scamming
Threats on fellow Nigerian community members's lives and safety
Suspicious and malicious links
Identity theft
Cyber bullying
They are barbaric and the Nigerian community does not tolerate such. We condemn such activities and anyone caught within the Nigerian community trying to perpetuate scam will be dealt with.
@uchefrancis, fell into this category, he got flagged for posting leaked episodes of a series which was considered as piracy and puts the community in a bad light, because he is a new member,he was flagged at 45% by me and warned to put the post down. He is under close watch for further repetition.
A lot of authors were warned to reference their images and stop plagiarism. Some were also guilty of using copyrighted images without understanding that they were doing so.
For support
With an ever increasing population, the need for more SP arises so as to cover more authors without maxing out our voting power, our finite SP, has made us to dial down on our voting percentage to cover more authors and still keep our voting power above 40% which means sometimes voting late, but we can do more with more delegation.
If you wish to support the Nigerian community curation team and help us keep the flag flying and keep the good work up, you can support us with more SP delegations, please contact @donkeypong on steemit.chat
Africa united project
In the previous post, the project by some noteable steemians like @dragonslayer109, @gavvet etc is designed to help curate African posts by African authors and Nigeria just happens to be in Africa.
Two groups were created on steemit chat for it. One group(africa posts) for post promotion for African authors, while the other (africa united) for chat.
The groups are closed groups, meaning that they require approval from an administrator of the group to enter. The good news is If you are an African and you are on steemit.chat and you are yet to be added, please signify in the comment section of this post or simply message either of @maryfavour, @dragonslayer109 or @gavvet on steemit.chat and kindly request to be added.
Very well written report, @ehiboss. I'm glad that I read it from beginning to the end. Looking forward to the maiden edition of the steemit in Nigeria (SIN) conference. Thanks for the mention and for all your efforts (including those of the curation team) to bring together the Nigeria community. Many thanks to @donkeypong, @infovore, @hanshotfirst, @dragonslayer109, @gavvet for collaborating in the building of the Nigeria and Africa community. Enjoy the steemit ride!!!
