Who we are and what we stand for?
A brief introduction is always necessary to inform those who are unaware of the mission and vision of the project.
As usual, I will refer to this post
With the curating team charged with the responsibility of gathering quality posts which have satisfied the parameters for voting, taking down scammers, impersonators and doing general surveillance of the Nigerian sub community and the general steemit community at large, there is no room for laxity, partiality and mediocrity.
The curating team which comprises of veteran steemit leaders and veterans like @donkeypong, @hanshotfirst and @infovore, with a drive to putting smiles on the faces of the Nigerian people by giving them a hope of decent payouts as reward for hardworking authors.
The curating team tries to always maintain discipline, courtesy, professionalism and accountability in all dealings to provide a fair and safe environment for all.
A quick and random thought on improving post payouts
A system could be adopted where by upvotes in comments of posts is split 50/50 among the person who is upvoted in the commment section of a post and the original author of the blog.
To make it hard to cheat, authors won't be allowed to self vote their own comments in their own posts there by preventing authors from simply rewarding themselves.
This idea targets community engagement and will help boost payout from upvotes from comments.
Like I said, this is a random thought.
Previous reports
General team report
Posts that were curated for the week were in their hundreds and the average payout on each post picked from $12 as at the report of last week to about $15.5 this week due to a slight boost in the price of steem among other factors.
As usual, all the posts are always screened for errors, hate speech, threats and undergo plagiarism check.
Individual curators are mandated not to post more than once daily to prevent gaming the system and power abuse.
The whatsapp group has grown to over 60 new steemians, although some are yet to get their confirmation mail.
New introductions include:
@segunbinary01
@funmiakinpelu
We also forgot to introduce @mimy sometime back.
We have gotten members with 50+ rep score within two weeks plus and one member has done a successful payout already. The #genesisproject tag was created for the team members and you can locate their wonderful posts with that tag
Rules of curation
In my earlier post, the rules of curation were given as:
- Post must be found in the #nigeria tag.
- Post must not be guilty of plagiarism.
- Post must not posses either @cheetah's or @steemcleaner's comment.
- Post must show creativity.
- Downloaded or borrowed pieces must be properly referenced.
- An author can only be curated by the team once in 24 hours.
- Post must not be guilty of hate speech or deregatory remarks at a member of the steemit community.
These rules must be adhered to strictly please
General warning
Please note that image theft can occur from referenced images that were downloaded from copyrighted sources. Please authours are enjoined to use stocked images that are free to download from sites like shutterstock, pexels, pixabay and so many others, if you cannot confirm if the image is copyrighted or not.
Tip: Avoid wikipedia images as they are sometimes copyrighted.
Fraudulent agendas are not tolerated. Agendas like:
- HYIP (High Yield Investment Programs)
- Ponzi schemes
- Scamming
- Threats on fellow Nigerian community members's lives and safety
- Suspicious and malicious links
- Identity theft
- Cyber bullying
They are barbaric and the Nigerian community does not tolerate such. We condemn such activities and anyone caught within the Nigerian community trying to perpetuate scam will be dealt with.
The blackbook report
This was created to give a list of offenders, action taken by the curation committee and the offender's reaction.
In this report, we have @omodeleolumide, who as found guilty of numerous counts of plagiarism and after repeated warnings, got flagged and still continued. He was reported to @steemcleaners and received action from @cheetah.
He later appealed and promised to turn over a new leaf, but it seems he has not, and his ban still holds.
We had numerous authors who were denied curation rewards on account of plagiarism and most of them took their warnings and turned over a new leaf.
@kolawole was constantly found to be posting in the kr tag section, even with posts not in anyway connected to the tag. ##### He was warned and he started suing the appropriate tag.
For support
Our finite SP, has made us to dial down on our voting percentage to cover more authors and still keep our voting power above 40% which means sometimes voting late, but we can do more with more delegation.
If you wish to support the Nigerian community curation team and help us keep the flag flying and keep the good work up, you can support us with more SP delegations, please contact @donkeypong on steemit.chat
Africa united
As explained, the project by some noteable steemians like @dragonslayer109, @gavvet etc is designed to help curate African posts by ##### African authors and Nigeria just happens to be in Africa.
Two groups were created on steemit chat for it. One group(africa posts) for post promotion for African authors, while the other (africa united) for chat.
The groups are closed groups, meaning that they require approval from an administrator of the group to enter. The good news is If you are an African and you are on steemit.chat and you are yet to be added, please signify in the comment section of this post or simply message either of @maryfavour, @dragonslayer109 or @gavvet on steemit.chat and kindly request to be added.
