Basic Introduction

I will give a quick run through according to this post
With the curating team charged with the responsibility of gathering quality posts which have satisfied the parameters for voting, taking down scammers, impersonators and doing general surveillance of the Nigerian sub community and the general steemit community at large, there is no room for laxity, partiality and mediocrity.
The curating team which comprises of veteran steemit leaders and veterans like @donkeypong, @hanshotfirst and @infovore, with a drive to putting smiles on the faces of the Nigerian people by giving them a hope of decent payouts as reward for hardworking authors.
The curating team tries to always maintain discipline, courtesy, professionalism and accountability in all dealings to provide a fair and safe environment for all.

General team report

Posts curated from 09/08/2017 - 15/08/2017 totaled over 200 due to an increase in the population of the Nigerian community. The average payout on each post dropped from $17 as at the report of last week to about $12 this week due to an increase in authors and finite SP.
The posts are always screened for errors, hate speech, threats and undergo plagiarism check.
Individual curators are mandated not to post more than once daily to prevent gaming the system and power abuse.

Report on introduction and mentorship project between @ehiboss and @ogoowinner

The whatsapp group has grown close to 60 members since the inception, and we have new introductions like:
We have a lot of members pending approval and some of them since last week are already approaching a reputation score of 50.
We also got @camzy to revive his old account.

Rules of curation

As usual in my earlier posts, I underlisted some of the rules of curation as:
  • Post must be found in the #nigeria tag.
  • Post must not be guilty of plagiarism.
  • Post must not posses either @cheetah's or @steemcleaner's comment.
  • Post must show creativity.
  • Downloaded or borrowed pieces must be properly referenced.
  • An author can only be curated by the team once in 24 hours.
  • Post must not be guilty of hate speech or deregatory remarks at a member of the steemit community.
Although not all the rules were included in the previous post.

General warning

Image theft can occur from referenced images that were downloaded from copyrighted sources. Please authours are enjoined to use stocked images that are free to download from sites like shutterstock, pexels, pixabay and so many others, if you cannot confirm if the image is copyrighted or not.

Tip: Avoid wikipedia images as they are sometimes copyrighted.

Fraudulent agendas are not tolerated. Agendas like:

  • HYIP (High Yield Investment Programs)
  • Ponzi schemes
  • Scamming
  • Threats on fellow Nigerian community members's lives and safety
  • Suspicious and malicious links
  • Identity theft
  • Cyber bullying
They are barbaric and the Nigerian community does not tolerate such. We condemn such activities and anyone caught within the Nigerian community trying to perpetuate scam will be dealt with.
If you catch any Nigerian doing such, please report to the Nigerian curation team ( @donkeypong, @hanshotfirst, @infovore, @ehiboss, @ogoowinner, @fisteganos, @gbenga, @destinysaid).

The blackbook report

This was created to give a list of offenders, action taken by the curation committee and the offender's reaction.
On this report, our first offender is @mikefrancis who was guilty of hate speech in this post. He slandered and abused all the whales on the platform, using @ned, @smooth, @dollarvigilante, @barrycooper etc and falsely accused them among other things. I visited his blog and discovered he was a lazy author and a plagiarist.
I flagged him for hate speech, trolling, peddling false information, plagiarism etc and reported him to the curation team for further sanctions. He later made an apology post.
Other authors were guilty of picture theft and they were sternly warned not to repeat such. Those that did outright copy and paste were given a link to educate them on avoiding plagiarism and were were booked for further sanctions should they persist.

For support

Due to our finite SP, we have had to dial down on our voting percentage to cover more authors and still keep our voting power above 40% which means sometimes voting late, but we can do more with more delegation.
If you wish to support the Nigerian community curation team with more SP delegations, please contact @donkeypong on steemit.chat

Don't forget project Africa united

Like I explained in this post, the project by some noteable steemians like @dragonslayer109, @gavvet etc is designed to help curate ##### African posts by African authors and Nigeria just happens to be in Africa.
Two groups were created on steemit chat for it. One group(africa posts) for post promotion for African authors, while the other (africa united) for chat.
The groups are closed groups, meaning that they require approval from an administrator of the group to enter. The good news is If you are an African and you are on steemit.chat and you are yet to be added, please signify in the comment section of this post or simply message either of @maryfavour, @dragonslayer109 or @gavvet on steemit.chat and kindly request to be added.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve, I promise to do more

Hey, just wanted to say thanks for the randowhale vote. I think this is actually the first time someone has done that for me. :P

You are welcome. As a curator, I have to vote Nigerians first, but then I also have to appreciate those that have also in one way or the other helped me grow because I believe in saying thank you

Amazing report! Keep doing what you do best to support the Nigerian/African steemit community. Thanks.
