In order to create a hub for reshaping the world through cryptocurrency and blockchain, many aspiring professionals took to Brooklyn to develop new technology for decentralizing and democratizing the world. Crypto works are a large contributing factor to the gentrification of Bushwick as a neighborhood, as the growth rate mirrored the expansion of blockchain influence in that area. Even though there are other blockchain companies in adjacent boroughs like Manhattan, it is more associated with larger companies such as Microsoft or Intel, where legacy finance is rooted to Manhattan, while future finance is headquartered in Brooklyn.

History of Bushwick

Bushwick was initially a working-class neighborhood, initially filled with German immigrants. By the late 20th century, it became predominantly Hispanic. In 2008, it was the 7th most impoverished neighborhood in New York City, with more than 75% of children in Bushwick being born in poverty, but starting in the mid-2000s, the government began pouring resources into Bushwick through a program called the Bushwick Initiative. The Bushwick Initiative stressed:

• Crime Reduction
• Housing Improvement
• Commercial Revitalization
• Sanitation Improvement

Looking at this infographic above, these statistics show signs of recovery for Bushwick, and the increased amount of attention that it is getting. But most importantly, Bushwick became a post-industrial place for hipsters to culminate, while housing dozens of influential blockchain startups, turning into essentially what it is today. The warehouse aesthetic itself started the startup culture, which consequently lends itself to the blockchain world in Bushwick as a neighborhood.

100 Bogart is one of the building complexes that hold major influence over the blockchain world today, as it holds numerous small companies or startups related to blockchains. With an increase of situating in Bushwick for blockchain startups, 100 Bogart geographically lies in the center of all of them. In addition to other companies, 100 Bogart is surrounded by a variety of amenities that make 100 Bogart an ideal place for a range of functions.
