IOTA and Walton Chain Investment Analysis and comparison. It's not a competition. It's disruption.

in #cryptocurrency7 years ago

Both Walton Chain and IOTA are Internet of things related products. Many people even think of them as competition. This is actually wrong. The 2 projects are more like 2 sides of a coin. Walton Chain uses RFID technology to connect physical items to the internet of things and focus on using blockchain technology for supply chains, inventory management and related Tasks. Remember that shop from Amazon with no checkouts. Think somebody came up and said I'll connect anything you can slap a RFID chip to the internet and you can check them and keep track of them and everything is secure and safe because of blockchain. That's a lot of jobs wiped out. That's not even the whole story. But let's look at IOTA.

IOTA isn't a blockchain project. It has a tangle. If you want to do a transaction, you confirm 2 other transactions. There are no Tx fees. IOTA use tertiary instead of binary. You know computers use 0s and 1s. IOTA uses 0, 1, 3. I'm not a programming expert or a crypto dev. But I don't see much short term uses in IOTA. They really chew a lot to swallow. What they promise is to take anything that an connect to Wi-Fi and and build a network of devices that talk to other devices. It's pretty hard to implement and start using effectively.

On the other hand WTC has many business partnerships and and a team that have established connections and experience in the industry they try to disrupt. They are more than just techies. WTC is easier to implement. We'll see Walton Chain getting adopted into businesses very soon. WTC is also going to have masternodes. You know I'm a massive sucker for masternodes and governance. So WTC can get stuff done and make decisions.

To see the effects of IOTA a great deal of changes are needed to the way things are done. WTC is bunch of (millions/billions) of RFID tags tracked via blockchain. How hard is that? I'm making a very reductive statemen and this isn't the full story. But as an investor, here is what I see.

One coin has 2.2 Billion market cap. It takes a lot of work to implement and it'll be like all the improvements done on web and web browsers. It will fundamentally change things and the effects would be gradual and smooth. The other has 127 million market cap and immediately change how physical objects are tracked by bringing them into the internet. IOTA could easily be a 10 bagger. WTC can be a 100 bagger and still be smaller than IOTA. IOTA aims to make our lives easier and smoother. WTC just say go to any store. Grab what you need and get out. You'll be billed. Inventory managers will never have to keep track of anything. They can simply stick to the management part of the job. Your life won't change. The world wouldn't be brought into a new era of technology. But one of these too is freaking awesome and it saves a lot of money for lots of people; immediately.

I'm not your financial adviser. I'm just a smart guy reading worthwhile stuff on the internet. If I had to choose between IOTA and WTC and it's not a day trade, I know I wouldn't put a penny on IOTA. Tech makes sense. Future makes sense. Investing in it doesn't when WTC exist.

You are welcome.

Excellent write up on both "sides of the coin" - I will have to do some more digging.

Thank you.
Good luck with digging!

cool little article. I managed to get into IOTA when it was under 50 cents, right now its a decent return, but it is a long term payoff where as Wally might pay off a lot sooner

Thanks. I'm sure you won't be loosing money on IOTA at this stage of adoption. But Wally is almost certain to do X100 before IOTA do a X10.

Day trading is of course a different topic.

Thank you very much V.

Sure thing. Nice to see you back.
