Substratum | The Most Undervalued Crypto For 2018? (HAR #1)

What is Substratum (SUB)? | Why do I believe that it'll be one of the best cryptos for 2018? | Price prediction?

Today we're talking about one of my favorite mid-market cap cryptos, Substratum (SUB). This is a project that I strongly believe in, and have been invested in since the beginning.

This crypto is an undervalued gem. And in this article, I'm going to explain what substratum is, and then I'm going tell my reasons on why I think that substratum could be one of the biggest cryptos for 2018.

I'm not a financial advisor of any sort, this is just my own opinion that I strongly believe in.

What is Substratum?

Substratum is the cryptocurrency that will bring us the decentralized web.
So basically, their goal is to create a decentralized web, which will provide unrestricted access to all content on the internet.

They are solving 2 major problems:

  1. Net neutrality: Lack of net neutrality is becoming a big problem in the current world where the internet is becoming more centralized (you've probably heard about the situation in the USA). Net Neutrality is the idea that Internet Service Providers should not be allowed to slow or block service to specific sites. If there's no net neutrality the IPS/the government can shut down some sites completely for a whole nation (for example, you can't acces Facebook if you live in China).

  2. Hosting industry: The hosting industry is becoming more and more centralized nowadays. There are only a few big web hosting companies out there. In a situation like this, when there are only a few big companies in an industry, the competition is really low, which will slowly make the prices go higher and higher. This is the problem with current web hosting, it's REALLY expensive. This makes it hard for small businesses or individual persons to have a good web presence. If you are a normal person going to a normal day-job who wants to start a blog, you have to pay hundreds of dollars for hosting.

Even though these problems are not related to each other in any way, they're still big problems, and it's nice to see Substratum trying to solve them.

How does Substratum work?

The Substratum Network is made up of nodes (networks of peer-to-peer computers) who can deliver content safely anywhere using cryptography. This will end the need for VPNs and Tor.

Anyone can host a website or an application using substratum. These web hosts then pay the substratum nodes to deliver the content to web users.

These nodes are just normal people who have shared their spare computing power to Substratum. Then Substratum will use this power to deliver the content safely from the web hosts to the web users.

The node system is pretty easy to understand. Basically, it will allow anyone who has spare computing resources to become a node and earn Substrate doing it. The only thing you need is a valid Substratum wallet address where the pay-outs will be sent. You don't need to be a genius of any kind.

The node system will offer an easy-to-use UI interface where you can easily control how much GPU, CPU, and RAM you want Substratum to use.

Sneak peek to the node system

Substratum combines technologies from cryptocurrency, and community hosting realms. Their goal is to revolutionize the hosting industry by offering cheap and reliable peer-to-peer internet to everyone.

The way they're going to do it is by drastically reducing hosting costs, through hosting that is billed per request through micro-transactions.

In plain English, this means that if you're hosting a website using Substratum, you will be paying only when someone visits your site, not per minute or hour. This is great because now you don't have to pay the same amount of money for your 10 visitors that some big company pays for their 100 000 visitors.

Substratum is great! They're offering something as simple as this, that could solve these two major problems.

Why do I believe Substratum is undervalued?

When I look at Substratum I'm purely astonished that it still isn't even in the top 50, currently not even in the top 100 cryptos. At the time of this writing, it's sitting at the 120th spot on CoinMarketCap, with a market cap of $121 million.

In my opinion, Substratum is still really undervalued. They've achieved a lot more in a year then many bigger cryptos have in MANY years.

They've already done successful Alpha 1 and Alpha 2 tests, and they're currently working hard to get the platform finished and released to the public.

They have a project with a lot of potential. They have a strong team and a really big community behind it. I don't see why they couldn't succeed.

Cryptocurrencies are just becoming mainstream. There is a lot of people investing in stuff they know nothing about. That's why we still have cryptos in the top 50 that don't even have a working product out yet. It's obvious that at some point these useless cryptos that can't even provide a working project will get wiped out.

In the next few years when this happens, and at the same time, when people start realizing the potential of some of these undervalued projects (like Substratum), they will explode.

When this happens, Substratum could easily be in the top 50 market cap cryptocurrencies.

Price prediction?

As I've said, I'm not a big fan of giving long-term price predictions for cryptos. It's just really hard to be correct because, as we know, crypto markets are crazy. Bitcoin went from 1k to 20k in a year. Nobody could’ve predicted that.

I am still going to try to give you my best, and most realistic, price prediction for 2018.
(At the time of this writing Substratum is at 0,53$)

Substratum will reach 5-6$ in 2018 (market cap of 1,3 billion).

This isn't too unrealistic because there is a lot of money coming into cryptocurrency and most likely almost every coin in the top 100/200/300 will rise a lot. Also, they are most likely going to release a lot of updates, and make the network public this year, which will affect the price positively, a lot.

So, don't quote me on this but I strongly believe that Substratum can reach 5-6$ in 2018.

Conclusion | Would I recommend investing in Substratum?

I'm not a financial advisor of any sort, this is just my own opinion that I strongly believe in.

Remember, you shouldn't just invest in a certain cryptocurrency just because I or anyone else on the internet says so. Do your own research, read their whitepaper and look at their team. After you've done your own research, you can check other people's opinions on YouTube or Steemit.

Long-term:
Yes, definitely!
One thing I always look at when researching a crypto is the problem they're trying to solve. Is it an actual problem that even needs to be solved, and if so, how big is the problem? And to be honest, Substratum is solving (in my opinion) one of the biggest problems of the future, net neutrality.

So, they have a project which is solving a big problem. Also, they have a strong team and a very strong community behind them. In my opinion, they're still really undervalued. If they can reach their goals, they will be worth A LOT more than $121 million. And right now, Substratum is a bargain of a deal. It doesn't even have to reach all-time highs for you to double or triple your money.

Short-term:
Yes...?
The price of Substratum has dropped over 70% from the all-time highs. When they release some major updates, and the whole market starts turning more bullish again, Substratums price could go up a lot.

This project has a lot of potential and I'm really keen on seeing what the future will bring them.
