Largest diamond retailer Signet Jewelers joins De Beers blockchain platform

The world's largest jewelry retailer Signet Jewelers has joined the Tracr blockchain project. Blockchain project Tracr belongs to the South African corporation De Beers Group, which specializes in the extraction and processing of diamonds.

Blockchain Tracr will allow participants to trace the origin of diamonds in order to exclude the possibility of interaction with "conflict" diamonds that are illegally mined in the war zones on the territory of the African continent.

Tracr will allow direct buyers of jewelry to check the origin of stones, which, according to representatives of De Beers, will only strengthen consumer confidence in the industry.

Virginia Droso, head of Signet Jewelers, said, "A responsible determination of the origin of diamonds is an integral part of the corporate code of honor of Signet. Cooperation with Tracr will only strengthen this process".
