The Secrets of Crypto Trading [Trade like a Crypto Monk - Part 2]

In Part 1 of the "Trade like a Crypto Monk" series we had a look at the first 3 steps, that build the basics of mastering your emotional state when trading with cryptos. We learned about the enemies we are facing and how to handle them.

In this part, I want to give you an overview on your allies on the path and how to cultivate them.

4. Gratitude, Joy, Humbleness

I already wrote another article about the power of gratitude as being the antidote for FOMO, that you should read.
Instead of looking into the direction of what you have "missed out", turn your focus on the gains you got.
This is more than just "positive thinking". Gratitude is something you can cultivate and train while you go along. There is always more gratitude you can develop on your path and never any final station, where you have mastered it once and for all. Try do practice this daily - even here on Steemit.
You can look on the earnings of whales here and be sad, angry or envy that some whale is posting funny pictures with colorful lines and earning thousands of $ with this shit, while you blog your heart and soul out and just earn a tiny portion OR you can be grateful for the 10 people that read your article and the change you brought to their lifes. It´s a matter of perspective and can be practiced in your daily crypto tradings as well. Don´t punish yourself for having missed a dip to buy, but be grateful, that you are one of the few people in the world, that have taken an opportunity at the best time that was possible for you.
Actively develop joy, gratitude and humbleness!

5. See the bigger picture

The moment you get tragged into FOMO, FUD and PANIC you have to remember, that the only thing you have to do now is to zoom out. Zoom out of your experience and your emotions.
These negative emotions only are here to tell you, that it´s time to see a bigger picture.
I mean that literally and figuratively. Literally in the way to zoom out the crypto chart you are staring at, that goes into the wrong direction. Have a look at the chart over a bigger time period and see, that everything comes in waves. Also look at the why you have bought the crypto in the first place.
Have the fundamentals changed? Is their roadmap over many months valid? Why do you worry, when watching your crypto fall short term, when their product and timeline shows clearly, that the best things are yet to come? See the bigger picture also in the goals and values.
...and then, see your own rich emotional landscape in your life and there is more there to discover than just moments of fear and despair over a momentary (mood) swing.

6. Surround yourself with the right people

This is as simple as important. It makes no sense to invest your valuable time to talk with people who hate cryptocurrency and trying to convince them of the opposite. Who can win such a discussion and what would you gain out of it?
I don´t mean to surround yourself with people who cheer on every bullshit hype there is and are not able to see the downsides of things either, but people who are just authentic, humble and real.
People like @exyle here on Steemit. He is successful but also humble and authentic in what he is doing. For me, he is the real deal and maybe the best example at the moment of a leader in the decentralized way. He makes a difference in peoples lifes and not like some total deluded whales that fight each other with flag/flame wars because they are too stupid to see the bigger picture.
In our emerging age of decentralization, the meaning of leadership is about to change.
Leaders are not people anymore who take their share of power through force, but are living examples of value and trust through their daily actions. Leaders in the Decentralization-Age are elected by us - you and me - in a process of tiny steps of trust building.
Like any video @exyle is making, builds trust much more than you can see by the numbers in SBD next to the video. This trust factor is priceless!

I hope you enjoyed this second part and you are already on the path of becoming a Crypto Monk!

See you in Part 3, where we will bring some things together and I share with you the "Crypto Meditation", that will make you enlightened faster than you can think! ;)

Great attitude to everything happening in life not only crypto trading. Looks like a plan)

Thank you! Yes - the bigger picture is life itself :))

Amen to the trust factor @atmosblack. During my research of #steemit this morning I was just thinking about that as it pertains to the whole platform and it's place in the world. There are going to have to be some monumental changes to the platform, which at first may seem counterproductive because they might seem to be tampering with success, i.e., reducing some of the profit motive which makes this platform so exciting. But along with integrity - which builds trust - comes sustainability, which in the end is more satisfying than mere profit. I don't know what it's going to take to get to that point and I hear about a hard fork in 2020 which, if I understand that correctly, means some major upgrades - and that prior to really takin' this thing to the streets and making it mainstream. Your thoughts my friend?

I think, that Steemit has to be market with other selling points than the earning aspect. I wrote about this in here. It´s not sustainable to promise the mainstream to be able to earn money here, while knowing, that 90% of people simply are not able (or don´t want) to produce content. That´s a fact that everybody knows in social media or owns a Facebook page. Without this realistic take any changes or forks won´t change anything and people will leave disappointed.

Thanks for giving us the bigger picture. The advice seems so easy but hard to master.
The most difficult part is indeed to find your peers in the cryptoworld. The ones that will make you smarter!

You are very welcome! You have to find the pearls. Most certainly it won´t be the whales here, for they are either passive or only in nonsense flag/flame wars posting bullshit without any value. I havn´t found one, that is really here to help new users. So yes, there are not many good examples here, but there are - maybe not whales - people like @exyle or @taskmaster4450 - also in general you have to find the communities that share your personal values. For me it´s EOS for example, since I like a "underpromise but overdeliver" approach...

Thank you @atmosblack for sharing this. A very humbling read, if that makes any sense :) Being new to the cryptocurency world myself, can be intimidating at times. Realizing the sense of community in the crypto world is awesome!

Thanks a lot for reading this article! Yes, communities - especially here on Steem - are awesome, when you find the right people you match with. I followed you and will now watch you play your Didgeridoo :))

Thanks for the post, I'm going to go and read part 1 now because I missed it :D

It’s great to see someone bring up the importance of a persons psychology with trading. Investing of any sorts even if it’s partially gambling must be about the numbers.

To many beginners let their emotions guide their decisions of when to buy and sell yet it’s all about the end goal.

Great article! Can’t wait to read the third part.

Thank you! :)

how do you feel about bitcoin being banned in some countries?

Well, if it would be just Bitcoin I wouldn´t care that much, because Bitcoin is a dying technology and I don´t see much future for it. It would be a bigger problem, if cryptos are being banned in general - but this is something that will be part of the war between old world models and new ones. We have to prepare, that this fight is going to be dirty.
