Whenever a person wants to watch a movie, go to a concert, or even go to a stadium to watch their favorite sports and teams play they have buy a ticket first. Now buying a ticket sounds really convenient but it really is not, because at the moment all tickets for the entertainment industry are sold by centralized companies. Buying tickets from centralized websites and companies can be highly problematic for consumers. Which is why Slate is now bringing blockchain technology into the entertainment industry’s ticketing department. The decentralized nature of blockchain technology might be able to improve the current ticketing systems in the world. This article will primarily focus on the problem in the ticketing industry at the moment and how Slate plans on using blockchain technology to resolve that problem.

The department of Slate that will deal with ticketing in particular is called Slatix. Slatix is a part of the Slate platform and it will utilize the Slate blockchain. Slate is going to build its own blockchain upon which all their platforms will be built.

The Problem

There are so many problems with the current ticketing industry at the moment. The least concerning of these problems is that many current ticketing industries are too focused on a certain aspect of the entertainment industry. For example, certain websites only sell tickets for sporting events, and others only sell tickets for concerts. This problem is more of a nuisance than a major concern but it still deserves to be listed because it can be a real inconvenience for people.

A more serious problem with the current ticketing industry is the price! Tickets are extremely expensive these days these days, especially for sporting events and concerts. It is not uncommon to see the ticket prices for concerts and sporting events costing as much as thousands of dollars. The reason for this problem is that all the current ticketing agencies are centralized. A common problem with centralized agencies is that they have to rely on middlemen and distributors to manage the sale of tickets for them. Relying on middlemen makes selling these tickets very expensive because they tend to charge large service fees and sometimes markup the tickets to ludicrous amounts so that they can earn a bigger profit.

The Solution

Slatix will not just be focused on the sale of tickets from just one or two aspects of the entertainment industry, Slatix will offer tickets for all venues in the entertainment industry from cinemas and theatres to concerts and sport events. Slatix will establish itself as a one stop destination for all entertainment related ticketing needs.

Slatix will be utilizing the Slate blockchain to manage the sale of all tickets. The decentralized nature of blockchain technology removes the need for middlemen. If Slatix is made all the costs associated to middlemen when buying a ticket will be completely removed, which means cheaper tickets for everyone.

Small Hindrance

There is just with one thing with Slatix since it is based on the Slate blockchain the only accepted mode of payment on the platform is the Slate cryptocurrency, SLX token. This could be problematic for the firm because cryptocurrencies have not yet achieved mass adoption.
