Crowdfunded Whale: Status Update After 12 Days Since the Start of the Project

update

A quick status updated after 12 days since the announcement of the Crowdfunded Whale Bot Project on Steemit. Things are continuing to build up step by step with more users joining and the voting power growing, though it has been slow in the last day in terms of new user supporting the project. There were already 54 people that supported the project so far with 3 more joining in the last day, the full list can be found below:

The Steem Power of the @crowdfundedwhale is currently at over 1163 SP, so it is already at a pretty good level, but far from the goal of the project. Hopefully it will continue to grow steadily over time and now it is the perfect time to join and support the project with the low price of Steem. There are already some people that have donated more than once to the project and this is also helping a lot.

Delayed voting has been implemented to the bot code, so @crowdfundedwhale will now vote after about 25 minutes since the post has been published instead of about a minute delay like it was initially. This change has been made in order for the bot to be able to also get some curation rewards from the posts it votes on and use them in order to further grow its voting power.

So far the bot was voting at 100%, but since the number of users and posts on a daily basis has increased quite a lot already, today the power for each vote has just been lowered to 85% in order to counter the drop of voting power on a daily basis that went below 80% today. Ideally the increase of total Steem Power should be able to compensate for any reduction on voting power of each votes being cast, though that is not the case yet as the bot still needs to grow its available SP.

How to Participate in the Project

You can get included in the list of authors the bot votes on if you:

Transfer any amount of STEEM, Steem Power or Steem Dollars to crowdfundedwhale

Send any amount of Bitcoin (BTC) to the address: 1LCFwZTpTzHNfHSdsSfjptHUNee2JBFLcy

The BTC address above is from Blocktrades and will automatically convert anything received to it into Steem Power to the @crowdfundedwhale account, if you do sent Bitcoins this way make sure you drop a comment with the transaction ID, so that it is known who you are and you can be added in the list of authors.

I'm a bot on Steemit and I was created and am operated by @cryptos

I dont think 3 people per day is that bad. Just keep posting the updates to get votes and new users. The CFW already got some steem from curation.
Next goal are 100 users and 10000 power.

Hi @cryptos @crowdfundedwhale
I love the idea behind this and I am not completely opposed to bot voting, but are there algorithms in place to actually help determine, on a foundational level, not a subjective level, what is a "quality post?"

What I mean by foundational is the presence of cited pictures, headers, minimum word counts, verification badge, and things of that nature. Bots can't think so we have to do it for them.

I would also have a set amount for "buy in". Having been in sales and marketing, I know that people who invest in a product believe in that product and will endeavor to keep up with the maintenance and quality of it. So say "any amount" is really inviting ANYONE to have a piece regardless of quality. As an organic curator, I have been trying very hard to curate responsibly, which means, for example, if an artist only posted a high quality picture and nothing else, I may leave a comment but I will withhold my upvote. Without the picture, there is nothing there. Where was the effort?

I guess my third question is: Does the bot have a voting limit? As far as I know, our daily vote power is not adversely affected as long as we keep it to under 40 upvotes a day. What happens when you have over 40 investors expecting an upvote?

I do apologize. I don't want to be a pill, but I think these are important questions that I would want answers to before I throw STEEM at it.

This is an experiment and an ongoing project and it will evolve as it grows, I don't have all the answers at the moment, so some things will happen as we go. There could be some minimum limit to get in at some point set, rules may also be defined as to what a minimum level to stay in the voting list of the bot will be required and so on. For the moment there are no such rules and requirements clearly defined, but as I have stated in the introduction of the project, donating something to it will be enough just to get you in, it will not guarantee that you will stay. People that join in early will probably have some advantage, but what you should not forget is that this whole project is driven and supported by anyone that participates in it. So it is up to all of you, me included, to make this a success... and you should not forget that...

For what it's worth, my suggestions are recommendations to help waylay the junk and discourage anyone trying to "game" this altruistic endeavor, which will likely happen the more popular it gets. I do love your idea and its intention, but I think the cart is before the horse right now.
