Mammal Photography Contest: winner announcement

Hi there my Steemian friends and followers!

After excluding dogs and cats (since they were the themes of the previous two rounds of my animal photo challenge), the mammals proved to be a surprisingly challenging theme.

However, after the initial hesitation, the contest ended up receiving a decent response so let me start out by saying a huge thank you to all of the participants :) You can check all those amazing entries in the contest post here.

After repeated browsing through all the great entries and some really long and proper consideration, I decided to choose these 5 winners:

The first place and 5 Steem go to @worldcapture with this entry:

Rescued Elephant Thailand. Great to see another competition where I also can participate! :D I mean, I don't have a lot of images of animals (yet), but I found this rescued elephant in my collection :)) It was from a travel to Chian Mai in August of 2019.

And to think I almost missed this one! :) The only problem then was which photo to choose! And here goes my pic: a toque macaque, Macaca sinica, photographed near Sigiriya, in Sri Lanka. This species is endemic to the country... and they have the coolest hairstyle I've ever seen!

One day, some time ago, I discovered a fox nest. It was actually quite close to our house. I have photographed many things that can be found in nature, but this was a totally new experience for me.

This is the only photograph of a big sized wild mammal I have ever made :) The Mediterranean monk seal ... I saw it just once, early in the morning a few summers ago ... the photograph was taken early in the morning in Istra peninsula, northern Adriatic, Croatia. I was sitting on the pebbles, doing nothing, just watching the sea and enjoying the place ... when the seal appeared from the water ... it seemed that this was his --- or her .. favorite beach that morning and even with me present there, there is no chance that the seal will give up that little bay ... I took a few shots and continued along the coast to see what else that extraordinary day will bring

I visited my father-in-law in the mountain part of Panabo City Philippines last February 2019. Along the way, I saw the cow owned by my sister-in-law. She has 7 cows bit I only saw one of those 7 cows.

A beautiful wallaby, seen in the Australia Zoo in Queensland. We had one of these in our Garden as well but the photo isn´t as good as this one.

You could not get any more intimate then this with these beautiful baby Elephants when my lady friend from Austria came to visit me in Thailand we headed out to Phuket and one of her dreams was to get close and swim with the Elephants and her dream came true when we visited an Elephant camp in Phuket where the Elephants are loved and care for. What an exciting moment for my lady friend just having a bath with friends...lol 🤭 👍 🤣
