Puzzle me this, puzzle me that. Can you catch up or not?

in #contest6 years ago

Sometimes it is good to have diversion and variety so let's get into something different this time. It came to mind when I am lining up scheduled posts while I will be away.

Here is something for you to think about as we approach the weekend. Please help me find the missing number on the lower right corner of pentagon in the middle.

riddle.jpg

Simple rules:

  1. Comment with your number and the explanation on how you came up with such number.
  2. The explanation should indeed result to the correct number. Otherwise, the whole answer is not valid even if the number is correct.
  3. The explanation should have a logical sense or sequence. It can not be that you just draw a number from the air. 😊

Upvote and resteem are not required but will certainly be appreciated.

Deadline of answering will be the payout closing of this post. After that, I will pick the comments with valid answers and draw lots for a winner who will win 1 SBI share. @freedomshift, would you like to sponsor a second winner?

Depending on the timing I may or may not video-record the drawing of winners. The winners will be announced on a separate post.

I will be adding Steem Bounty reward for this post so just commenting sensibly may already win you a prize.

Time to jog our brains a little. Go solve the puzzle...

Have a great weekend ahead!

Happy Rewards Hunting!

None has won the bounty reward!

It's unethical to do, what you just did...
You have no right to post a link in message section...
If you are so concerned about it...you should not vote on it and let the moderators/system decide it!!!
I am trying to make honest living here.

Hi @xabi. I looked for you on discord but I cannot find you so I came back here to answer your allegation.

First of all, I asked. If you missed the point of that, it is not an accusation but a plain question. Please read my comment again. You need not have to be very reactive and just let the moderators decide.

On a separate note, you picked a good post of mine to comment on. This post has steem bounty prize on it. You may get a part of the prize with your comment. So cheer up and good luck on your hunt! Cheers! :)

But please don't post links in the comments. It's kind of rude... If you think a hunt is duplicate you can decide not to vote it.
I am not making an accusation. I am just requesting you to give me "the benefit of doubt...
I would be fool to post a duplicate hunt knowing that moderators will figure it out. I was just complaining about you being so blunt.
That comment looks bad on my hunt and reputation.
Pardon me if you felt disrespected...

And you can always go their and edit your comment... If you think of me as an honest hunter... And want to give me the benefit of the doubt.
And thanks for the bounty... Hahaha

But please don't post links in the comments. It's kind of rude...

When I did that on other hunt before, the hunter just laughed at me and let the moderators decided. The hunter was so cool that actually made it a joke. I was not even asked to remove the link. I should have known better that different people will react differently. I am sorry for that.

For your peace of mind, the comment has been edited.

Yeah people react differently in different situation...
And thanks for being so open minded...No need for sorry, it was just the difference of prospective...No personal difference!!!
Appreciated!!!

I've been seeing this pentagons for long time. Looking for a secuence. Sums, prime numbers, dates, letters. But I still don't get it.

I will give you a clue. The pattern is a combination of multiplication, addition and subtraction. You just need to figure out the whole formula and you will come up with the answer.

Try again... You can do it! 😊

Thank you for the clues. I figured it out. The answer is 9

It comes from the multiplication of the two numbers, the sum of the third pentagon and the substraction of the first pentagon. Resolved it on excel. Heres the capture.

Wow! You really took the challenge seriously up to the point of using Excel huh? Let's park your answer there and see at the end of the contest period. It won't be long... 😊

I like puzzles. 😊

10?

a clue, please.

The three pentagons have the same formula?

Not 10. Try again... Check out the clues I replied to @iamthegray on the comment section.

Come on, you can do it! 😊

Hola

I checked out the hint but still can't figure it out

Any help?

Okay, let's try these more hints...

  • The numbers in the first and third pentagons have nothing to do with each other but have something to do with the numbers in the middle one.
  • The numbers in the same corner of first and third pentagon forms a formula that leads to the number in the same corner of the middle pentagon. For example, number 6 in first pentagon and number 4 on third pentagon when entered into a formula will lead to number 22 in the middle pentagon. You just have to figure out the formula...

You can do it! 😊

Oh my god, you have me checking out hahaha

It will be 14, that is:
7 x 2 = 14 then -
5 x1= 5
14 - 5 = 9.

The numbers of the pentagon 1 and 3, have as a result the numbers of the 2 pentagon?

The numbers on pentagons 1 and 3 have something to do with the numbers on pentagon 2.

It is not 14. Try again. You can do it! 😊

It's not 14, it's 9.

When multiplying (7 x 2) = 14 - 7 = (7 + 2) = 9.

Yes?

Playing with pentagons 1 and 3.

I was relying on your "It will be 14" phrase but it's okay, I got what you mean now. Let's park your answer there until the end of the contest. It's about to end anyway. :)

Oh no! You started thinking and doubting hahaha almost filled a notebook taking accounts hahahaha excellent, I'll be waiting for the closure.

Definitely, you got us to think a lot hahaha

Well, I guess that is how a puzzle should be. Otherwise it will just be a giveaway. 😉

I feel like I'm cheating but I think @softwaricho has the formula figured out.

You multiply the numbers in the first and third pentagon, add the number in the third pentagon and and subtract the number in the first pentagon

Using that formula, X = 9

Blessings

Well, you could have just presented what you got without looking at the other answers. Anyway, thanks for trying. 😊
