Create Your 'Dada' Poem or Art & Win SBD (Anniversary Contest - All Aboard)

in #contest6 years ago (edited)

I am close to celebrating my 6 months steemit anniversary.
So, I thought I should celebrate that special day in a fun and unique way!

What better than a contest? But before sharing with you my contest info, a short history lesson!

What is dada?

Dada may seem to be a funny name but it is more than that; Dada is an art movement that started in Switzerland in 1916, during the WWI. A few months earlier dadaism's first signs appeared in New York

A lot of artists left their European homes, finding shelter and inspiration in Zurich. They decided to take action, expressing their opposition to the war's ugly face, to the distructions and cruelty; They opposed to the war in their own way. Through their art .

That New Art was actually a new way to look at the world. The artists would mock politicians, satirize everything around them, even rejected the logic and capitalism of the society. Even art itself was challenged, rules existed only to be broken. The more obscure a piece of art was, the more dadaistic it was considered to be.

“Thought is made in the mouth.”
Tristan Tzara, poet (April 1896 - December 1963)

Why was the name dada selected?

The origin of the word dada remains unknown.

It has been said that 'dada' resembles to a baby's first words; thus having no specific meaning.

As per wikipedia another story goes that an Austrian Artist, while searching at a dictionary chose at random the word 'dada' which was a "colloquial French term for a hobby horse"

As per another theory it is simply a meaningless word in all the languages, constituting an internationally accepted term.

Hugo Ball, author (February 1886 - September 1927)

Which arts were affected by dadaism?

Dadaism developed fast and broadly. It influenced all arts, not only visual or literate ones but music too.

Dada is the groundwork to abstract art and sound poetry, a starting point for performance art, a prelude to postmodernism, an influence on pop art, a celebration of antiart to be later embraced for anarcho-political uses in the 1960s and the movement that laid the foundation for Surrealism.

Creating dada can be more difficult than you think. You can see here below instructions by Tristan Tzara BUT do not use these instructions to create your poem, I will know!

TO MAKE A DADAIST POEM

Take a newspaper.
Take some scissors.
Choose from this paper an article of the length you want to make your poem.
Cut out the article.
Next carefully cut out each of the words that makes up >this article and put them all in a bag.
Shake gently.
Next take out each cutting one after the other.
Copy conscientiously in the order in which they left the bag.
The poem will resemble you.
And there you are – an infinitely original author of charming sensibility, even though unappreciated by the vulgar herd.

Click here to see how you can create a poem yourself in under a minute but please do not use it for entering this contest!

My Poem for the occasion?

Not sure what to write, not sure what to say
but wanted to share with you, in my daily review
my happiness and joy, in a day full of glory
for finding a fun way into the crypto game

almost six months gone by
and it's been a big school in my life
a milestone is now achieved
but many more remain to be reached

a dada can set you free
a dada is fun to see
a dada can make you laugh
but please, don't wear your scarf

Pablo Picasso, painter (October 1881 - April 1973)

Either I don’t get it or I don’t feel the dada. But anyway here’s some art:

Thank you for remembering!
But I have a question .. Did you create them? :)

Instead of being insulted I’ll help you make the decision yourself... ;)

I’m still looking for the original of the reverse collage, I digitally drew over a photo I took to intentionally highlight the images that are isolated.

Here’s an extra one:

Hmmmm interesting...

How do you determine if something is dada for the competition?

Thank you for commenting!
Actually, the magic is that dada follows no specific style or logic
I am not an expert in this, but If it sounds or seems dada, it must be dada ..
Let's see what you've got!!!

But how will u judge a dada art? The crazier/absurd/simpler/rebellious it is the better?

Hi, thank you for dropping by!
Well, it will depend on what I will like more. There are no specific rules, I just need it to be original : )
Also, it important that there has been an effort in producing it.
Poems, stories, graphics will be accepted.
Again, thank you for visiting and commenting!
I hope you will participate

I don't think my current followers would appreciate it if I do. 😂😂😂 They'd be alienated, if they haven't been alienated enough by my sea cucumber post. 😂

Should I take it to the next level then? 😂😂😂

haha, you have a point BUT this is a reason that nobody has to create a separate post if they do not want to.
You could always create something and post it in the comments.
My idea was to create a fun contest, and learning something new - fun (I think dada is a very special movement in the history of art and if not anything else, it deserves to be mentioned)
Have an amazing day!! :)

Can I enter my sea cucumber post? I'm thinking that's the most dadaesque article I have so far. 😂😂😂

Even if it makes sense, it's kinda "crazy" how I wrote it.

hahaha, well you can enter whatever you wish (Great cucumber post btw, I will comment on that later on)
I would rather it to be a new post for the occasion but it is dada .. it can be anything .. it can be your comment right now :P

Uhmm these dada poems sound interesting, think I'll give it a try. @vuds was this also on your list or you just got a 56th style to try? lol

Can it just be a post and not a poem or a story? I think I have another one for you.

Of course, it can be anything you like :)

Great! I wonder how many people will unfollow me upon posting it. Hahahahaha.

If you feel that way, you can post it as a comment :)
My only wish is .. imagination unleashed :)

No no no... it has to be a post. Haha. :D

I've put a warning quick post already. :P

Heck I just got the bandwidth warning few minutes ago. Long time no see. I guess I've been too active on here today. :)
